Abstract Background Schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease caused by parasites that infest open water sources such as rivers and dams may increase susceptibility to HIV. Mass-treatment with praziquantel tablets, recommended by the World Health Organization reduces the prevalence of schistosomiasis. The goal in endemic areas is 75% treatment participation in every treatment round (e.g. yearly). Previously it has been necessary to use high flow samplers or long sampling times to measure airborne Fel d 1 concentrations in the range reported here.5 The amplified assay might allow measurements with very short sampling periods to better describe dose-response relationships, and may also be applied to measure airborne concentrations of allergens such as cockroach or dust mite that are airborne at very low concentrations. Background The decreasing participation rates and selective non-participation peril the representativeness of health examination surveys (HESs). Methods Finnish HESs conducted in 1972–2012 are used to demonstrate that survey participation rates can be enhanced with well-planned recruitment procedures and auxiliary information about survey non-participants can be used to reduce selection bias. BACKGROUND: In Europe, a continuous programme (SPREAD) has been in place for ten years to study transmission of drug resistant HIV. We analysed time trends of transmitted drug resistance mutations (TDRM) in relation to the risk behaviour reported. METHODS: HIV-1 patients newly diagnosed in 27 countries from 2002 through 2007 were included. Inclusion was representative for risk group and geographical distribution in the participating countries in Europe. Trends over time were calculated by logistic regression.
