Abstract The quinazolinone nucleus represents, among the class of fused heterocycles, a very important scaffold to obtain molecules with biological activities. A review of literature revealed how such kind of fused heterocycles, coming from natural or synthetic source, are associated with a wide range of biological activities. This review is mainly directed towards the 4-(3H)-quinazolinones N-3 substituted with a five membered heterocycle in which all the possible combinations of nitrogen, sulfur and oxygen atoms are present.

Human diploid fibroblasts (HDFs) exposed to subcytotoxic stresses under H2O2, tert-butylhydroperoxide (t-BHP), and ethanol (EtOH) undergo stress-induced premature senescence (SIPS) characterized by many biomarkers of HDFs replicative senescence. Among these biomarkers are a growth arrest, an increase in the senescence-associated β-galactosidase activity, a senescent morphology, an overexpression of p21waf-1 and the subsequent inability to phosphorylate pRb, the presence of the common 4977-bp mitochondrial deletion, and an increase in the steady-state level of several senescence-associated genes such as apolipoprotein J (apo J). El diario de sesiones del Compromiso de Caspe indica que el Maestro Vicente Ferrer el domingo 17 de abril de 1412 pronunció un sermón poco conocido sobre el tema bíblico 'Fiet unum ouile et unus pastor' (Io 10, 16). Diversos manuscritos e impresos transmiten diferentes estados de su redacción. En este trabajo además de contextualizar en el mencionado Compromiso este sermón, se edita según su tradición textual más genuina.

Aims: This study compared two new methods for direct determination of 5-hydroxytryptophol glucuronide (GTOL) in urine, a biomarker for detection of recent alcohol consumption. Methods: Urine samples were collected from ten alcoholic patients during recovery from intoxication. A direct injection ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for measurement of the urinary GTOL to 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) ratio, and an ELISA assay for direct measurement of GTOL, were used.
