Optical determination and identification of organic shells around nanoparticles: application to silver nanoparticles

We present a simple method to prove the presence of an organic shell around silver nanoparticles. This method is based on the comparison between optical extinction measurements of isolated nanoparticles and Mie calculations predicting the expected wavelength of the Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance of the nanoparticles with and without the presence of an organic layer. This method was applied to silver nanoparticles which seemed to be well protected from oxidation. Further experimental characterization via Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) measurements allowed to identify this protective shell as ethylene glycol. La inscripción en el registro consular no es obligatoria para los emigrantes españoles. Conlleva, no obstante, una serie de ventajas que propician, antes o después, su realización. En este artículo se identifican y analizan los principales motivos que animan a ello a los emigrantes españoles. Se toman como base fundamental los datos e informaciones obtenidos a través de una encuesta cuantitativa y entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas a más de cuatro mil españoles residentes en el extranjero. Resumen basado en el de la publicación Título, resumen y palabras clave en inglés y español Se trata el tema del estrés docente, analizando las propiedades psicométricas de la escala ED-6, elaborada para el estudio, con el objetivo de medir el estrés o malestar docente de cara a su utilización en un marco más amplio de investigaciones sobre este fenómeno. Los resultados muestran una fiabilidad y validez aceptable, quedando conformados por 77 ítems y 6 dimensiones: ansiedad, depresión, presiones, creencias, desmotivación y mal afrontamiento. Challenging equal temperament : perceived differences between twelve-tone equal temperament and twelve fifth-tones tuning

A listening experiment was arranged to evaluate perceptual preferences between two musical tuning systems: twelve-tone equal temperament (i.e. the current international standard) and twelve fifth-tones tuning. The latter being a system that, according to its author Maria Renold, provides a more accurate and aurally genuine reproduction of musical harmonics. Abstract A new hierarchical model for the electrodialysis (ED) process is presented. The model has been implemented into gPROMs Modelbuilder (PSE), allowing the development of a distributed-parameters simulation tool that combines the effectiveness of a semi-empirical modelling approach to the flexibility of a layered arrangement of modelling scales. Thanks to its structure, the tool makes possible the simulation of many different and complex layouts, requiring only membrane properties as input parameters (e.g. membrane resistance or salt and water permeability). Stan zdrowotny drzew i jakość siedliska na terenie miasta Oświęcim

Celem przeprowadzonych w 2011 r. badań było określenie zdrowotności wybranych drzew miejskich oraz jakości ich siedliska (za pomocą dwóch prostych metod), a następnie scharakteryzowanie występujących między nimi zależności. Analizą objęto 5 obszarów miasta Oświęcim różniących się między sobą warunkami siedliskowymi. Kondycję zdrowotną drzew wyznaczono na podstawie skali zdrowotności opracowanej przez J. Dudę, natomiast jakość siedliska określana była w oparciu o zmodyfikowaną przez Mazuruk oraz autorów artykułu skalę, zaproponowaną przez Jendrzejczak, Buczkowską, Chojnacką. It first reviews this concept and draws attention to the multidimensionality of the construct, considering the underlying cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions of consumer engagement. The WEBT BL Lacertae Campaign 2001 and its extension : Optical light curves and colour analysis 1994–2002

BL Lacertae has been the target of four observing campaigns by the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT) collaboration. In this paper we present UBVRI light curves obtained by theWEBT from 1994 to 2002, including the last, extended BL Lac 2001 campaign. A total of about 7500 optical observations performed by 31 telescopes from Japan to Mexico have been collected, to be added to the ∼15 600 observations of the BL Lac Campaign 2000. All these data allow one to follow the source optical emission behaviour with unprecedented detail.
