Selvitän pro gradu-tutkielmassani saksalaisten idealistien Immanuel Kantin ja F.W.J. Schellingin käsityksiä vapaudesta ja pahuudesta. Esitän että Kant ja Schelling lähestyvät vapautta ja pahaa hyvin erilaisten oletusten pohjalta ja päätyvät siten erilaisiin lopputuloksiin. Toisaalta Kantilla ja Schellingillä on myös yhteinen oletus siinä, että näkevät vapauden tehdä pahaa ilman redukstiota kausaalisiin selityksiin välttämättömäksi ihmisen tahdonvapaudelle. Kantille keskeinen lähtökohta on ihminen ”kahden maailman kansalaisena”. Kant käsittää luonnon, johon ihminenkin kuuluu, täysin kausaalis-mekaanisena kokonaisuutena. Schelling-Voter Model: An Application to Language Competition

In this work we analyze the language competition problem by using an interacting agent-based model which interpolates the classical Schelling and Voter models. Briefly, an agent may change its place of residence or his language when he is surrounded by more individuals of the other kind than the ones he can tolerate. We analyze this dynamic process in terms of the free space to move in, the pressure to change the language, and the propensity to change location. The aim of the present contribution is to explore Schelling’s theory of noble metals within the texts he wrote between 1801 and 1804, especially the System of Würzburg (1804). Schelling’s theory of noble metals and the closely related theory of the relationship between cohesion and specific gravity undergo a change between 1801 and 1804. In the Exposition of my Philosophical System (1801) Schelling places emphasis on the conflict between gravity and cohesion, and he conceives the relationship between specific gravity and cohesion in terms of inverse proportionality. F.W.J. Schelling argues in his middle period work Philosophical Inquiries into the Nature of Human Freedom that will should be understood as the most fundamental constitutive element of reality. Though it is often downplayed in recent scholarship, Schelling derived his most central ideas for this work more or less directly from the theosophy of Jacob Boehme. I will argue that far from peripheral and antiquated curiosity, Schelling´s esoteric influences constitute the very foundation of his middle period thought.
