The basic principles and philosophy which have guided the area of few-nucleon physics are motivated and discussed. Recent advances have made it possible to solve accurately the Schrodinger (or Faddeev) equation for many of the configurations of the few-nucleon systems, A brief review is given of some of the results of these calculations, which also Indicate that one-pion exchange plays roughly the same role in binding these systems that it plays in electromagnetic meson-exchange currents. The discrete quantum walk in N dimensions is analyzed from the perspective of its dispersion relations. This allows understanding known properties, as well as designing new ones when spatially extended initial conditions are considered. This is done by deriving wave equations in the continuum, which are generically of the Schrodinger type, and allows devising interesting behavior, such as ballistic propagation without deformation, or the generation of almost flat probability distributions, which is corroborated numerically. Nonlinear excitations in a compressible quantum Heisenberg chain

Abstract We investigate, both analytically and numerically, nonlinearly coupled magnetic and elastic excitations of compressible Heisenberg chains. From a shallow water wave treatment of perturbation terms, one can derive two types of coupled equations which are coupled Boussinesq and nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equations and coupled Boussinesq and NLS-like equations. We also simulate collisions between magnetic and elastic solitons in the compressible Heisenberg chain when a nonlinearized approach is performed to deal with the magnetic modes in the presence of harmonic as well as anharmonic interactions. Bright and dark optical solitons in fiber media with higher-order effects

We consider N-coupled higher-order nonlinear Schrodinger (N-CHNLS) equations which govern the simultaneous propagation of N optical fields in fiber media with higher-order effects. Bright and dark soliton solutions are derived using Hirota bilinear method for the general cross-coupling ratio between the parameters of self-phase modulation and cross-phase modulation effects. By means of coupled amplitude-phase formulation also, similar kind of dark soliton solutions are obtained. It is found that the parametric conditions for the simultaneous propagation of N dark solitons from both the methods are the same.

Comment on "Dynamics and properties of waves in a modified Noguchi electrical transmission line"

E 91, 022925 (2015)PRESCM1539-375510.1103/PhysRevE.91.022925] presents the derivation of the nonlinear equation modeling envelope waves in a specific case of band passed filter discrete nonlinear electrical transmission line (NLTL), called "A modified Noguchi electrical transmission line" according to the authors. Using the reductive perturbation approach in the semidiscrete approximation, they showed that the modulated waves propagating in this NLTL are described by the ordinary nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation. GAP solitons in 1D asymmetric physical systems

We present a general approach for studying the nonlinear transmittance and gap solitons characteristics of asymmetric and one dimensional (1 D) systems in the low amplitude or Nonlinear Schrodinger limit. Included in this approach are some novel results on naturally asymmetric systems and systems where the symmetry is broken by an external constant force.

The effect of random matter density perturbations on the MSW solution to the solar neutrino problem

We consider the implications of solar matter density random noise upon resonant neutrino conversion. The evolution equation describing MSW-like conversion is derived in the framework of the Schr\"odinger approach. We study quantitatively their effect upon both large and small mixing angle MSW solutions to the solar neutrino problem. This is carried out both for the active-active $\nu_e \ra \nu_{\mu,\tau}$ as well as active-sterile $\nu_e \ra \nu_s$ conversion channels. We find that the small mixing MSW solution is much more stable (especially in $\Delta m^2$) than the large mixing solution.
