The citizens’ feedback on the EU management of the migration crisis

The view of European citizens about the response of the EU to the immigration crisis is assessed in this paper by delving into Euro Barometer survey data. In the first sections, the analysis is framed by discussing the nature and causes of the present, mostly forced, migration flows, and the reasons why many Europeans want to keep the migrants out, despite the documented need of foreign workers. The remaining sections scan a set of Euro Barometer data to highlight the citizens’ concern with the migration issue and their reaction to the crisis management developed by the EU leaders in the past six years. Modelling of phase transitions and residual thermal stress of CTBN rubber modified epoxy resins during a pultrusion process

Abstract The implicit finite difference and fourth order Runge-Kutta method are used both to solve the heat transfer problem in the pultrusion reaction and to calculate the temperature and conversion distributions within a thermoset composite profile. The aim of our work is to study the influence of a rubbery phase added to the epoxy matrix in production conditions. The results have shown that the rubber modified systems have a low exothermic temperature peak value, so that neither the amount of cured resin nor the final product properties are limited. Recycling of a starch-based biodegradable polymer

A new starch-based polymeric system, ZI1OU from Novamont, mainly composed of starch and polycaprolactone, was reprocessed several times in an extruder to investigate the recyclability of this biodegradable polymer. A previous investigation of the thermomechanical degradation in a mixer has been also done. The degradation is mostly due to the thermal stress but the presence of the mechanical stress strongly increases the degradation kinetic. Fractional Spectral Moments for Digital Simulation of Multivariate Wind Velocity Fields

In this paper, a method for the digital simulation of wind velocity fields by Fractional Spectral Moment function is proposed. It is shown that by constructing a digital filter whose coefficients are the fractional spectral moments, it is possible to simulate samples of the target process as superposition of Riesz fractional derivatives of a Gaussian white noise processes. The key of this simulation technique is the generalized Taylor expansion proposed by the authors. The method is extended to multivariate processes and practical issues on the implementation of the method are reported.
