Post-reproductive aged women: a lost generation in the cervical cancer screening programme

The aims of the study were to find out why some post-reproductive aged women did not participate in the organised cervical cancer screening programme in Latvia and to clarify factors that would motivate them to take part. A cross-sectional study was carried out between January and July 2017 among female patients in three general practitioner (GP) practices. GP practice nurses used the Latvian national health service database to identify women aged 25–70 who had not participated in the organised programme for the last 3 years. Validity and Reliability of the Spanish Version of the "Abuse Assessment Screen" among Pregnant Women.

Objective: To assess the reliability, accuracy, and construct validity of the Spanish Abuse Assessment Screen (AAS) among pregnant women using the Spanish version of Index of Spouse Abuse (ISA) as a reference standard. Design and Sample: Cross-sectional survey. A total of 1,329 pregnant women were selected in nine primary care centers during 2008-2009. Measures: The Spanish ISA was self-administered first, followed by the AAS, administered by the midwife. Upgrading cytochrome P450 activity in HepG2 cells co-transfected with adenoviral vectors for drug hepatotoxicity assessment

In a number of adverse drug reactions leading to hepatotoxicity, drug metabolism is thought to be involved by the generation of reactive metabolites from non-toxic drugs. The use of hepatoma cell lines, such as HepG2 cell line, for the evaluation of drug-induced hepatotoxicity is hampered by their low cytochrome P450 expression which makes impossible the study of the toxicity produced by bioactivable compounds. Genetically manipulated cells constitute promising tools for hepatotoxicity applications. Accumulation of senescent cells may drive age-associated alterations and pathologies. Senolytics are promising therapeutics that can preferentially eliminate senescent cells. Here, we performed a high-throughput automatized screening (HTS) of the commercial LOPAC®Pfizer library on aphidicolin-induced senescent human fibroblasts, to identify novel senolytics. Irreversible epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors contain a reactive warhead which covalently interacts with a conserved cysteine residue in the kinase domain. The acrylamide fragment, a commonly employed warhead, effectively alkylates Cys797 of EGFR, but its reactivity can cause rapid metabolic deactivation or nonspecific reactions with off-targets. Synthesis and biological activities of a new class of heat shock protein 90 inhibitors, designed by energy-based pharmacophore virtual screening

The design through energy-based pharmacophore virtual screening has led to aminocyanopyridine derivatives as efficacious new inhibitors of Hsp90. The synthesized compounds showed a good affinity for the Hsp90 ATP binding site in the competitive binding assay. Moreover, they showed an excellent antiproliferative activity against a large number of human tumor cell lines. Further biological studies on the derivative with the higher EC50 confirmed its specific influence on the cellular pathways involving Hsp90.
