Herein we present results of QSAR studies of tyrosinase inhibitors employing one of the atom-based TOMOCOMD-CARDD (acronym of TOpological MOlecular COMputer Design-Computer Aided “Rational” Drug Design) descriptors, molecular quadratic indices, and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) as pattern recognition method. Testing the strength of the UA(1) anomaly at the chiral phase transition in two-flavour QCD

We study the thermal transition of QCD with two degenerate light flavours by lattice simulations using $\mathcal{O}(a)$-improved Wilson quarks. Particular emphasis lies on the pattern of chiral symmetry restoration, which we probe via the static screening correlators. On $32^3$ volumes we observe that the screening masses in transverse iso-vector vector and axial-vector channels become degenerate at the transition temperature. The splitting between the screening masses in iso-vector scalar and pseudoscalar channels is strongly reduced compared to the splitting at zero temperature and is actually consistent with zero within uncertainties. An example is the dissociation of heavy quarkonium seen in heavy-ion collisions. Aza-isoindolo and isoindolo-azaquinoxaline derivatives with antiproliferative activity

Abstract Three new ring systems, pyrido[2′,3′:3,4]pyrrolo[1,2- a ]quinoxalines, pyrido[3′,2′:3,4]pyrrolo[1,2- a ]quinoxalines and pyrido[2′,3′:5,6]pyrazino[2,1- a ]isoindoles, were synthesized through an aza-substitution on the already active isoindolo-quinoxaline system and in particular in the position 7 or 4 of the isoindole moiety and in position 5 of the quinoxaline portion. All new compounds were screened by the National Cancer Institute (Bethesda, MD) against a panel of 60 human tumor cell lines. Spectrophotometric determination of a widely used UV-filter, such as oxybenzone, is proposed. The method is based on the complexation reaction between oxybenzone and Ni(II) in ammoniacal medium. The stoichiometry of the reaction, established by the Job method, was 1:1. Reaction conditions were studied and the experimental parameters were optimized, for both flow injection (FI) and sequential injection (SI) determinations, with comparative purposes. Sunscreen formulations containing oxybenzone were analyzed by the proposed methods and results compared with those obtained by HPLC. Large scale preparation of human MHC class II+ integrin beta(1)+ Tregs.

Abstract The human CD4 + CD25 + FoxP3 + regulatory T cell population (Tregs) contains both MHC class II + and MHC class II − cells. MHC class II + Tregs belong to the integrin α 4 β 1 + subpopulation and exclusively execute contact-dependent suppressive activity. Here we present a method optimized for isolation of these MHC class II expressing Tregs from large leukaphereses products using magnetic microbeads that achieves a reproducible purity of more than 90% and enables the use of this small-sized Treg population in pre-clinical application and basic research.

Evaluating a Two-Level vs. Three-Level Fall Risk Screening Algorithm for Predicting Falls Among Older Adults

Thus, the United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) developed the Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries (STEADI) algorithm to screen for fall risk. We referred to our STEADI algorithm adaptation as “Quick-STEADI” and compared the predictive abilities of the three-level (low, moderate, and high risk) and two-level (at-risk and not at-risk) Quick-STEADI algorithms.
