Does the internet increase the job finding rate? Evidence from a period of expansion in internet use

Abstract We examine the impact of household access to the internet on job finding rates in Germany during a period (2006–2009) in which the share of households with a broadband connection increased by 31 percentage points, and job-seekers increased their use of the internet as a search tool. During this period, household access to broadband internet was almost completely dependent on the availability of a particular technology (DSL). We therefore exploit the variation in DSL availability across municipalities as an instrument for household access to the internet. Triatoma venosa presents a restricted geographical distribution in America and is considered as a secondary vector of Chagas disease in Colombia and Ecuador. A total of 120 adult insects were collected in domestic and peridomestic habitats in an endemic area of the department of Boyaca, Colombia, in order to determine their genetic structure through morphometric and molecular techniques. The head and wings of each specimen were used for the analyses of size, shape, and sexual dimorphism. A significant sexual dimorphism was found, although no differences in size among the studied groups were detected. Differences were found in the analyzed structures except for male heads. During the measurements of the acoustic emission signals taken both in the laboratory and industrial conditions it is necessary to carry out calibration of the measurement paths used. One of the basic calibration methods is the one invented by Hsu-Nielsen, which consists in generating an acoustic signal during breaking a scriber placed in a special head put on an automatic pencil. A tool development framework for domain-specific languages combining mapping and transformation based approaches is proposed in this research project. The combination of both approaches permits to use advantages and eliminate disadvantages as far as possible. First results are described including draft architecture for the framework implementing proposed ideas. A sketch of mapping definition facilities is presented. Initial implementation proposals are described as well. A template based graphical generation language Template MOLA for implementation algorithm description is introduced.
