First findings of a national French survey about cyberviolence among lower secondary students

2012

En ligne sur le site de l'IREDU ( http://iredu.u-bourgogne.fr/ ); The phenomenon of cyberviolence has been very little studied in France and we have very few quantitative data about this issue in our country. We propose in this poster to present the first findings of a national survey conducted last spring in lower secondary schools. Based on a sample of 1007 students (11-16 yrs old), our analyses will primarily give an insight on the nature and the extent of cyberviolence. We will then examine the link between victimization and perpetration to see if victims and perpetrators are likely to be the same students or not. This question seems to be very important in terms of prevention and inter…

Evaluation of a public policy for combating exclusions : the case of an "insertion" class in the final year of junior secondary school

2005

Since 1975, the expression "single college" is regularly evoked to describe the first cycle of secondary education in France. However, since 1992, classes named "third of insertion", neither dedicated to general education, nor assimilable to those with adapted teaching have been functioning for mailing pupils. At the cross-roads of political, historical, economic and social problems, this study tries to articulate each one of these fields, with the student body, placed at the centre of these questions, being both from an underprivileged social category and having experienced school failure. The analysis which follows demands simultaneously research on the concept of "insertion", the name of…

Le collégien en difficulté : un constat local et des propositions d'aide individualisée

2003

For some years now, the management of pupil diversity has been the subject of considerable debate, both at the level of the education system and within separate establishments. The principal questions concern the actions to be implemented to allow all pupils to acquire a common base of knowledge and skills during the four years of lower secondary education. Numerous systems have been developed in recent years: remedial teaching, differentiated pedagogy, individual support, reorganisation of timetables, the grouping of pupils, diversified careers, etc., but tangible results have not always been observed. A worrying percentage of pupils still enter lower secondary education with serious learn…

Directly measured and self-reported physical activity in a sample of Finnish secondary school students

2012

Background: Previous studies based on self-reports show that a majority of children and adolescents in Western countries fail to achieve the recommendation of 60 minutes moderate to vigorous physical activity (PA) on a daily basis. The specific aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between directly measured and self-reported PA in a cross-sectional sample of Finnish secondary school students. Moreover, how large proportion of adolescents accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous PA on a daily basis using self-reports and direct measure scores. Methods: Participants were recruited from a secondary school located in Northeast Finland. The sample comprised 96 students (…

Vērtībizglītība angļu valodas stundās vidusskolā

2019

Molecular mechanisms of primary and secondary mucosal immunity using avian infectious bronchitis virus as a model system

2007

Although mucosal immune responses are critical for protection of hosts from clinical illness and even mortality caused by mucosal pathogens, the molecular mechanism of mucosal immunity, which is independent of systemic immunity, remains elusive. To explore the mechanistic basis of mucosal protective immunity, gene transcriptional profiling in mucosal tissues was evaluated after the primary and secondary immunization of animals with an attenuated avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a prototype of Coronavirus and a well-characterized mucosal pathogen. Results showed that a number of innate immune factors including toll-like receptors (TLRs), retinoic-acid-inducible gene-1 (RIG-1), type I…

Procollagen C-proteinase Enhancer Stimulates Procollagen Processing by Binding to the C-propeptide Region Only*

2011

Background: Procollagen C-proteinase enhancer-1 (PCPE-1) is an extracellular glycoprotein that increases activity of certain zinc metalloproteinases involved in tissue development and repair. Results: PCPE-1 binds uniquely to the C-propeptide region of the procollagen molecule. Conclusion: PCPE-1 enhances proteolysis by binding solely to the procollagen C-propeptides. Significance: These data may lead to future applications in the development of antifibrotic therapies.

Field-Grown and In Vitro Propagated Round-Leaved Sundew (Drosera rotundifolia L.) Show Differences in Metabolic Profiles and Biological Activities

2021

Drosera rotundifolia L. is a carnivorous plant used in traditional medicine for its therapeutic properties. Because of its small size, its collection in nature is laborious and different cultivation methods have been studied to ensure availability. However, only a few studies exist where the lab-grown sundew tissue and field-grown sundew would have been compared in their functionality or metabolic profiles. In this study, the antioxidant and antiviral activities of lab-grown and field-grown sundew extracts and their metabolic profiles are examined. The effect of drying methods on the chromatographic profile of the extracts is also shown. Antioxidant activity was significantly higher (5–6 ti…
