Abstract The study of several different naturally aged films of organic painting materials, is described. Materials studied include drying oils (walnut, poppy seed and linseed oil) resin-based paint varnishes (the triterpenoid dammar and the diterpenoids sandarac and turpentine) and protein-based binding media (egg yolk and casein). Attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), followed by multivariate treatment of the spectral data, was used to classify seed oils of the genus Cucurbita (pumpkins) according to their species as C. maxima, C. pepo, and C. moschata. Also, C. moschata seed oils were classified according to their genetic variety as RG, Inivit C-88, and Inivit C-2000. International audience; The purpose of this work was to identify an unknown component which has been detected during the analysis of cyclic fatty acid monomers (CFAMs) in low erucic acid rapeseed oils (LEAR). A sample of crude LEAR was transformed into fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) and hydrogenated using PtO2. The hydrogenated sample was fractionated by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and the fraction containing the CFAMs transformed into picolinyl esters. There is limited information in the literature concerning the feasibility of using algal extracts as natural additives for improvement of the quality and shelf-life ofmeat products. Hence, a Fucus vesiculosus extract (FVE) at the concentrations of 250mg kg-1 (FVE-250), 500mg kg-1 (FVE-500) and 1000mg kg-1 (FVE-1000) were added to pork patties with linseed oil oleogel as a fat replacer. RESULTS: Total polyphenol content of FVE was determined to be 20 g phloroglucinol equivalents 100 g-1 extract. The behaviour of some aphid species is influenced by different plant odours, especially by plant essential oils, which are the mixtures of terpenes. In our study, carrot seed oil and its main sesquiterpenic component - carotol - were examined as factors influencing the behaviour and development of Aphis fabae Scop. The results of the olfaction experiments showed, that especially carrot seed oil exhibited various activities in the dose-dependent manner. When tested in the amount which did not exceed 0.01 mL of 1% v/v of suspension in water, this substance exhibited strong attractancy toward adult females of Aphis fabae. International audience; The fruits of Pistacia lentiscus are a source of a fixed oil used in some forested areas for culinary purposes and in traditional medicines. The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of tocopherols, carotenoids and triglycerides in this oil using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results demonstrated the presence of two vitamin E isomers; α- and γ-tocopherols, at respective concentrations of 119 mg and 23 mg per kg of oil. β-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin were the principal carotenoid molecules identified. β-carotene was the main molecule present, with a level of 6.13 mg/kg oil.
