The NUMEN project @ LNS: Status and perspectives

The NUMEN project aims at accessing experimentally driven information on Nuclear Matrix Elements (NME) involved in the half-life of the neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ), by high-accuracy measurements of Heavy Ion (HI) induced Double Charge Exchange (DCE) reaction cross sections. In particular, the (18O,18Ne) and (20Ne,20O) reactions are used as tools for β+β+ and β−β− decays, respectively. In the experiments, performed at INFN - Laboratory Nazionali del Sud (LNS) in Catania, the beams are accelerated by the Superconducting Cyclotron (CS) and the reaction ejectiles are detected the MAGNEX magnetic spectrometer. La transición entre sus estados de alto y bajo espín (HS y LS, de las siglas en inglés, High Spin y Low Spin, respectivamente) se puede controlar mediante estímulos externos como la temperatura, presión, luz, por nombrar unos pocos. Ultrafast Coherent THz Lattice Dynamics Coupled to Spins in the van der Waals Antiferromagnet FePS3

Coherent THz optical lattice and hybridized phonon–magnon modes are triggered by femtosecond laser pulses in the antiferromagnetic van der Waals semiconductor FePS3. The laser-driven lattice and spin dynamics are investigated in a bulk crystal as well as in a 380 nm-thick exfoliated flake as a function of the excitation photon energy, sample temperature and applied magnetic field. The pump-probe magneto-optical measurements reveal that the amplitude of a coherent phonon mode oscillating at 3.2 THz decreases as the sample is heated up to the Néel temperature. Za dolną cezurę przyjęto poselstwo Marcjana Dominika Wołłowicza do cara Piotra I, które jednoznacznie zakończyło okres separatystycznych litewskich działań dyplomatycznych z pierwszej dekady XVIII wieku. Przywrócona została zasada prowadzenia wspólnej polityki zagranicznej Korony i Wielkiego Księstwa z uwzględnieniem większego zainteresowania Litwinów stosunkami z Rosją. We discuss the semi-nonparametric approach of Gallant and Nychka (1987, Econometrica 55: 363–390), the semiparametric maximum likelihood approach of Klein and Spady (1993, Econometrica 61: 387–421), and a set of new Stata commands for semiparametric estimation of three binary-choice models. The first is a univariate model, while the second and the third are bivariate models without and with sample selection, respectively.
