Self-management in distributed systems : smart adaptive framework for pervasive computing environments

On personalized adaptation of learning environments
2017
This work is devoted to the development of personalized training systems. A major problem in learning environments is applying the same approach to all students: i.e., teaching materials, time for their mastering, and a training program that is designed in the same way for everyone. Although, each student is individual, has his own skills, ability to assimilate the material, his preferences and other. Recently, recommendation systems, of which the system of personalized learning is a part, have become widespread in the learning environments. On the one hand, this shift is due to mathematical approaches, such as machine learning and data mining, that are used in such systems while, on the ot…
Report of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) on the assessment of olive oil by its nutritional char…
2021
* This record is given in both English and Spanish. The Nutri-Score front-of-pack nutritional labelling system uses a code of letters and colours to inform consumers about the nutritional quality of foods and drinks. However, currently this system does not cover all the positive aspects of foods that possess a specific nutritional quality within the Mediterranean diet, as in the case of olive oil and extra-virgin olive oil. The AESAN Scientific Committee has suggested different possibilities for a more accurate assessment of olive oil and especially virgin olive oil, in the Nutri-Score front-of-pack labelling system, taking into consideration those compounds that are beneficial to the consu…
Aesthetic Appeal and Visual Usability in Four Icon Design Eras
2016
Technological artefacts express time periods in their visual design. Due time, visual culture changes and thus affects the design of pictorial representations in technological products, such as icons in user interfaces. Previous research of temporal aspects in human-computer interaction has been focusing on particular interaction situations, but not on the effects of design eras on user experience. The influence of icon design styles of different eras on aesthetic and usability experiences was studied with the method of primed product comparisons. Affective preferences and their processing times were analysed in order to examine visual usability in terms of semantic distance and aesthetic a…
By examining current Cuban texts, this study analyzes a type of constructions which are proposed to be denominated 'emphatic sequences of identification with como'. It tries to explain these sequences as a peculiar linguistic construction by means of the description and interpretation of their morphosyntactic and semantic characteristics.
On the History of Differentiable Manifolds
2012
International audience; We discuss central aspects of history of the concept of an affine dif-ferentiable manifold, as a proposal confirming the need for using some quantitative methods (drawn from elementary Model Theory) in Mathematical Historiography. In particular, we prove that this geometric structure is a syntactic rigid designator in the sense of Kripke-Putnam.
Film, music and induced mixed-emotion
2011
This Master's Thesis examines the relationship between film, music and induced mixed-emotion with particular focus on the effect of semantic congruency and musical background on emotion ratings. This study provides further understanding of which emotions are felt during film watching and provide an answer to whether or not there is a difference between musicians' and non-musicians' emotional reactions. A brief overview of emotion research conducted with audio and visual stimuli, as well as in film, is provided. The discussion includes the following topics: visual primacy, semantic congruency and cognitivst/emotivist theory. The difference between musicians and non-musicians as supported by …
Kognitywna analiza semantyczna polskich wykrzykników
2018
The aim of the article is to conduct a semantic analysis of Polish interjections. The collected data consist of words (200 forms), which were qualified as an interjecion in the National Corpus of Polish and in the Uniwersalny słownik języka polskiego. The article consists of four chapters. The first part provides a short introduction to the subject matter related to interjections and includes a short summary of the views and opinions concerning their semantic structure. The author briefly describes methods and the conception of the meaning, which are used in the article (cognitive semantics). The third chapter provides a semantic analysis of interjections. It consists of the description of …
A HUMAN RESOURCE ONTOLOGY FOR RECRUITMENT PROCESS
2009
In this paper we propose a model of ontology for the human resource domain. We emphasize the benefits resulting from the application of Semantic Web technologies in the recruitment process. We use currently available standards and classifications to develop a human resource ontology which gives us means for semantic annotation of job postings and applications. Furthermore, we outline the process of semantic matching which improves the quality of query results. Finally, we propose the architecture of an evaluation system based on Semantic Web technologies.
