In this paper, the problems of relay selection and distributed beamforming are investigated for bi-directional dual-hop amplify-and-forward frequency-division duplex cooperative wireless networks. When using individual per-relay maximum transmission power constraint, it has been proven that the relay selection and beamforming optimization problem becomes NP hard and requires exhaustive search to find the optimal solution. Therefore, we propose a computationally affordable sub-optimal multiple relay selection and beamforming optimization scheme based on the l1 norm squared relaxation. The issue of morphodynamic influence in meandering streams is investigated through a series of laboratory experiments on curved and straight flumes. Both qualitative and quantitative observations confirm the suitability of the recent theoretical developments (Zolezzi & Seminara 2001) that indicate the occurrence of two distinct regimes of morphodynamic influence, depending on the value of the width ratio of the channel β. The threshold value βR separating the upstream from the downstream influence regimes coincides with the resonant value discovered by Blondeaux & Seminara (1985). Decoding Children's Social Behavior

We introduce a new problem domain for activity recognition: the analysis of children's social and communicative behaviors based on video and audio data. We specifically target interactions between children aged 1-2 years and an adult. Such interactions arise naturally in the diagnosis and treatment of developmental disorders such as autism. We introduce a new publicly-available dataset containing over 160 sessions of a 3-5 minute child-adult interaction. In each session, the adult examiner followed a semi-structured play interaction protocol which was designed to elicit a broad range of social behaviors. A bending theory of thermoelastic diffusion plates based on Green-Naghdi theory

Abstract This article is concerned with bending plate theory for thermoelastic diffusion materials under Green-Naghdi theory. First, we present the basic equations which characterize the bending of thin thermoelastic diffusion plates for type II and III models. The theory allows for the effect of transverse shear deformation without any shear correction factor, and permits the propagation of waves at a finite speed without energy dissipation for type II model and with energy dissipation for type III model. Bakalaura darba “Bena Afleka režisēto filmu stils” mērķis ir noskaidrot Bena Afleka (Ben Affleck) filmu veidošanas raksturīgākās iezīmes. Darbā ir apkopota teorija par kino valodas elementiem, kino naratīvu, mākslas kino, laiku un tehniskiem filmas veidošanas paņēmieniem. Metodoloģiskajā darba daļā tika izvēlētas tādas metodes kā naratīva analīze un semiotiskā analīze, lai precīzi identificētu elementus un naratīvu struktūru, kuras tiek izmantotas kino stāsta veidošanā. Darbā tiek aplūkotas 4 režisora filmas laika periodā no 2007. līdz 2016. gadam. Papildus teorētiskajam ieskatam darbā tiek aprakstīta režisora Bena Afleka biogrāfija.

Spin qubits offer one of the most promising routes to the implementation of quantum computers. Very recent results in semiconductor quantum dots show that electrically-controlled gating schemes are particularly well-suited for the realization of a universal set of quantum logical gates. Scalability to a larger number of qubits, however, remains an issue for such semiconductor quantum dots.
