Time operators, innovations and approximations

Abstract We present a new approach to the spectral analysis and prediction of such complex systems for which the time evolution is described by a semigroup of operators. This approach is based on an extended concept of time operator and can be interpreted as a shift representation of dynamical systems. The time operator method includes the multiresolution analysis of wavelets as a particular case but can also be applied for a substantially larger class of dynamical systems. Form-perturbation theory for higher-order elliptic operators and systems by singular potentials

We give a form-perturbation theory by singular potentials for scalar elliptic operators onL2(Rd)of order 2mwith Hölder continuous coefficients. The form-bounds are obtained from anL1functional analytic approach which takes advantage of both the existence ofm-gaussian kernel estimates and the holomorphy of the semigroup inL1(Rd).We also explore the (local) Kato class potentials in terms of (local) weak compactness properties. The nearly Gorenstein property for numerical duplications and semitrivial extensions

In this thesis we present and study the ideal duplication, a new construction within the class of the relative ideals of a numerical semigroup $S$, that, under specific assumptions, produces a relative ideal of the numerical duplication $SJoin^b E$, for some ideal $E$ of $S$. We prove that every relative ideal of the numerical duplication can be uniquely written as the ideal duplication of two relative ideals of $S$; this allows us to better understand how the basic operations of the class of the relative ideals of $SJoin^b E$ work. Infinite Dimensional Banach spaces of functions with nonlinear properties

The aim of this paper is to show that there exist infinite dimensional Banach spaces of functions that, except for 0, satisfy properties that apparently should be destroyed by the linear combination of two of them. Three of these spaces are: a Banach space of differentiable functions on R(n) failing the Denjoy-Clarkson property; a Banach space of non Riemann integrable bounded functions, but with antiderivative at each point of an interval; a Banach space of infinitely differentiable functions that vanish at infinity and are not the Fourier transform of any Lebesgue integrable function.

Representation of Autonomous Automata

An autonomous automaton is a finite automaton with output in which the input alphabet has cardinality one when special reduced. We define the transition from automata to semigroups via a representation successful if given two incomparable automata (neither simulate the other), the semigroups representing the automata are distinct. We show that representation by the transition semigroup is not successful. We then consider a representation of automata by semigroups of partial transformations. We show that in general transition from automata to semigroups by this representation is not successful either. Gradient estimates for heat kernels and harmonic functions

Let $(X,d,\mu)$ be a doubling metric measure space endowed with a Dirichlet form $\E$ deriving from a "carr\'e du champ". Assume that $(X,d,\mu,\E)$ supports a scale-invariant $L^2$-Poincar\'e inequality. In this article, we study the following properties of harmonic functions, heat kernels and Riesz transforms for $p\in (2,\infty]$: (i) $(G_p)$: $L^p$-estimate for the gradient of the associated heat semigroup; (ii) $(RH_p)$: $L^p$-reverse H\"older inequality for the gradients of harmonic functions; (iii) $(R_p)$: $L^p$-boundedness of the Riesz transform ($p<\infty$); (iv) $(GBE)$: a generalised Bakry-\'Emery condition. Machine Morphisms And Simulation

This paper examines the concept of simulation from a modelling viewpoint. How can one Mealy machine simulate the other one? We create formalism for simulation of Mealy machines. The injective s–morphism of the machine semigroups induces the simulation of machines [1]. We present the example of s–morphism such that it is not a homomorphism of semigroups. The story for the surjective s–morphisms is quite different. These are homomorphisms of semigroups but there exists the surjective s–morphism such that it does not induce the simulation.
