Hugh MacDiarmid is sometimes still thought a parochial poet, mostly interested in the depiction of rural Scotland. However, in the 1930s, he wrote several poems about the city of Glasgow but his work on urban predicaments has been largely forgotten. In his Glasgow sequence, MacDiarmid, along with many other writers in the 30s, redefines Scotland as an urban nation. Post-industrial Glasgow urges the whole country to ‘re-write’ itself and the canonical representation of rural Scotland to fade away. An example of media hybridisation, social networks users can immediately comment on infotainment television programmes, a process known as second screening. These second screeners tend to be especially active in politics. The lai “Si bé, Fortuna, has dat lo torn”: a critical edition of the catalan poem from the novel Triste deleitación

The Castilian novel Triste deleitación, written in the late fifteenth century by an author from the Crown of Aragon, includes several letters and poems. One of these poems, “Sy bé, Fortuna, as dat lo torn”, is written in Catalan. This article presents the poem’s annotated critical edition, which reports how it is indebted to the Catalan lyrical tradition. Written in an evolved form of the French lai cultivated by various Catalan poets, the poem is clearly influenced by Pere Torroella’s lai “Qui volrà veure un pobre estat”, and linked to two other similar lais also dependent on Torroella’s. L’article acara les històries sentimentals de dues de les parelles secundàries del Tirant lo Blanch: la de Diafebus i Estefania, per una part, i la d’Hipòlit i l’Emperadriu, per l’altra. La comparació permet deduir concomitàncies notables entre totes dues, que,al seu torn, considerades en conjunt, contrasten a primera vista amb la història amorosa central de Tirant i Carmesina. Is Big Brother Watching Us? Google, Investor Sentiment and the Stock Market

International audience; This paper proposes a novel measure of French investor sentiment based on the volume of internet search reported by Google Trends. We find that our sentiment indicator correlates well with alternative sentiment measures often used in the literature. Furthermore, we find that investor sentiment influences the behavior of mutual fund investors. The results also reveal evidence about short-run predictability in return. An increase in our sentiment index leads to short-term return reversal. The reversal pattern is more pronounced for smaller firms than larger firms, consistent with the predictions of noise trader's models.

Si presenta una ricerca avviata nell’autunno del 2009. Il problema dell’educazione affettiva degli adolescenti emerge quando avviene il primo innamoramento. Tale fenomeno mostra come sia andata fino a quel momento l’educazione dei sentimenti e lascia presupporre che cosa bisogna ancora fare per portarla a compimento.
