Aunque se trate de àreas geogràficamente distante, las relaciones culturales du¬rante la Edad Moderna entre Andalucía y Sicilia han documentado diversos episodios ba¬stante significativos. Ambas regiones comparten una mismo destino histiogràfico, una larga tradición de lecturas paralelas, a menudo fundamentadas en sólidos estereotipos. El documen¬to identifica algunas actitudes comunes que se ejecutan a través de los siglos del clasicismo: la suerte de los consejos de Sebastiano Serlio, la selección con grabadores ciertos modelos, técnicas de construcción se aplica a situaciones especìficas.

The facade of the church of the Pious Schools of Gandia has not attracted the attention of researchers. However, its conception has a great architectural culture and constitutes an essential work to understand its context, fundamentally, that of the theoretical treatises of the Renaissance. From this study it is wanted to value its architecture and that it is considered as an outstanding ingredient to know its period of construction in general and jesuit architecture in particular. For its understanding, its interpretation in the culture of contemporary architecture treaties and, especially, in the architectural-musical theory of Leon Battista Alberti will be necessary.. Between the end of the sixteenth century and the first half of the Seventeenth Century, the intense building activity that affected the Maltese archipelago favored the diffusion of the innovations introduced in the projects for Valletta. The construction of new parish churches offered numerous opportunities for the experimentation of Renaissance architectural language, through the use of new decorative repertoires and the models offered by Italian treatises.

Serlio and Sicily. Models for Portals and Windows. More than once historiography has highlighted the role played in Sicilian architecture by Sebastiano Serlio's books. We deal with a clear phenomenon wich is recognizable in many outlines, sometimes in early cases. The spread of these books was synchronous and encompassed the whole half of the 16th century. It seem, from the architectural rsults, that a greater success was obtained by the Libri III and IV, and by the Extraordinario. Withing few decades, many workshop in all Sicily began to reproduced architectural elements based on them; above all gates and windows (the series of works here displayed represents just a selection).
