Zarządzanie procesowe jako warunek wzrostu efektywności działania administracji publicznej
2016
Demand Responsive Transport Services for Improving the Public Transport in Suburban Areas
2022
Suburbs suffer from isolation from densely populated urban centers due to the poor performance of traditional public transport services such as buses. This isolation worsens the quality of life of the residents of these areas, with related problems of social exclusion. One of the possible solutions to meet the mobility needs of these people is a flexible service such as Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) systems. This article assessed the effectiveness of a DRT service as a feeder transit service, assuming a connection of three suburban districts of Palermo, Italy, with a Railway Line station. Thanks to a Revealed Preferences (RP) and Stated Preferences (SP) survey campaign, both the current…

Personal Social Networks of Community-Dwelling Oldest Old During the Covid-19 Pandemic—A Qualitative Study
2021
The COVID-19 pandemic and its related restrictions have affected the everyday life of older people. Advanced age is a significant predisposing factor for a more severe COVID-19 infection, increasing the risk for hospitalization and mortality. Even though restrictions have been, thus, well-grounded, they may also have had detrimental effects on the social well-being of older people. Personal networks and social activity are known protective factors against the premature decline in health and functioning, and it is widely acknowledged that social isolation increases feelings of loneliness, poor quality of life, and even the risk for diseases and disabilities among older adults. This qualitati…
HEALTHCARE QUALITY - A MANAGERIAL APPROACH
2014
Healthcare quality has been defined in different ways, depending on the dimension that the authors had in mind. Furthermore, if initially healthcare quality was defined and assessed from the specialists’ and researchers’ point of view, nowadays the importance of patient and the public opinion preferences and perspective has been recognized. Thus, the first step in assessing the quality of these services involves defining what is meant by "quality". Along these lines, this paper presents the results of a qualitative research, conducted on a sample of 16 managers, quality managers and CEOs of several clinics and hospitals, both public and private (for-profit), from Bucharest.

One of the most intensive processes in the development of Polish transport infrastructure is currently modernizing main national railway lines. One of them is the railway line between Poznan and Szczecin. During the realization of such projects there occur conflicts in fulfilling different ecosystem functions by landscapes. The study evaluates natural values of the areas adjacent to the railway line Poznań - Szczecin within a zone of 250 m, and also identifies areas with varying conflict degrees for the realization of the modernization project. The most important areas of h…
