Segmentation automatique et analyse de forme d'hippocampes humains dans l'étude de la maladie d'Alzheimer
2011
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the shape change in hippocampus due to the atrophy in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). To this end, specific algorithms and methodologies were developed to segment the hippocampus from structural magnetic resonance (MR) images and model variations in its shape. We use a multi-atlas based segmentation propagation approach for the segmentation of hippocampus which has been shown to obtain accurate parcellation of brain structures. We developed a supervised method to build a population specific atlas database, by propagating the parcellations from a smaller generic atlas database. Well segmented images are inspected and added to the set of atlases, such that t…
Inverse procedural modeling of 3D models for virtual worlds
2016
This course presents a collection of state-of-the-art approaches for modeling and editing of 3D models for virtual worlds, simulations, and entertainment, in addition to real-world applications. The first contribution of this course is a coherent review of inverse procedural modeling (IPM) (i.e., proceduralization of provided 3D content). We describe different formulations of the problem as well as solutions based on those formulations. We show that although the IPM framework seems under-constrained, the state-of-the-art solutions actually use simple analogies to convert the problem into a set of fundamental computer science problems, which are then solved by corresponding algorithms or opt…

Model, software and database for line-mixing effects in the nu3 and nu4 bands of CH4 and tests using laboratory and planetary measurements - II : H2 …
2006
International audience; The absorption shapes of the nu(2), nu(3) and nu(4) infrared bands of CH4 perturbed by H-2 in large ranges of pressure and temperature have been measured in the laboratory. In order to model these spectra, the theoretical approach accounting for line-mixing effects proposed for CH4-N-2 and CH4-air and successfully tested in the companion paper (1), is used. As before, state-to-state rotational rates are used together with some empirical parameters that are deduced from a fit of a single room temperature spectrum of the nu(3) band at about 50 atm. The comparisons between measured and calculated spectra in the nu(3) and nu(4) regions under a vast variety of conditions …
INTEGRAL and RXTE observations of accreting millisecond pulsar IGR J00291+5934 in outburst
2005
Simultaneous observations of the accretion-powered millisecond pulsar IGR J00291+5934 by International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory and Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer during the 2004 December outburst are analysed. The average spectrum is well described by thermal Comptonization with an electron temperature of 50 keV and Thomson optical depth tau_T ~ 1 in a slab geometry. The spectral shape is almost constant during the outburst. We detect a spin-up of the pulsar with nudot=8.4x10E-13 Hz/s. The ISGRI data reveal the pulsation of X-rays at a period of 1.67 milliseconds up to ~150 keV. The pulsed fraction is shown to increase from 6 per cent at 6 keV to 12--20 per cent at 100 keV. This is n…
Anthropometry: An R Package for Analysis of Anthropometric Data
2017
The development of powerful new 3D scanning techniques has enabled the generation of large up-to-date anthropometric databases which provide highly valued data to improve the ergonomic design of products adapted to the user population. As a consequence, Ergonomics and Anthropometry are two increasingly quantitative fields, so advanced statistical methodologies and modern software tools are required to get the maximum benefit from anthropometric data. This paper presents a new R package, called Anthropometry, which is available on the Comprehensive R Archive Network. It brings together some statistical methodologies concerning clustering, statistical shape analysis, statistical archetypal an…
A New Algorithm for the Retrieval of Sun Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence of Water Bodies Exploiting the Detailed Spectral Shape of Water-Leaving Rad…
2021
Sun induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SICF) emitted by phytoplankton provides considerable insights into the vital role of the carbon productivity of the earth’s aquatic ecosystems. However, the SICF signal leaving a water body is highly affected by the high spectral variability of its optically active constituents. To disentangle the SICF emission from the water-leaving radiance, a new high spectral resolution retrieval algorithm is presented, which significantly improves the fluorescence line height (FLH) method commonly used so far. The proposed algorithm retrieves the reflectance without SICF contribution by the extrapolation of the reflectance from the adjacent regions. Then, the SICF …
Needle-shape quality control by shadowgraphic image processing
2011
International audience; We propose a needle-shape quality-control method. To this end, we have devised a new acquisition system that combines a camera and a backlight. Needle measurements are carried out at a micrometric scale using shadowgraphic image processing. Our method not only distinguishes good needles from bad ones, but also allows classifying flawed needles into various categories of defects. This classification is important because some categories of defects can affect the entire production, whereas others do not. The results of our needle-shape quality-control method are validated using real samples directly off the manufacturing line. Needles are correctly classified at >97%, a…
3D Tools for CH Documentation
2020
The research focuses on the digital Computer Assisted Restoration procedures to guide the measure of integration of an artefact, innovating and implementing traditional research methods. Non-invasive 3D Digitalization techniques with high-performance devices allow the generation of applications for high-resolution visualization of three-dimensional environments with the possibility of navigating, analyzing and consulting virtual models in real time. The innovative application of 3D digital technologies has demonstrated that the integrated use of the new technology can be a useful tool to improve the entire process of collecting, storing and consulting information and data related to diagnos…
Fluorescence excitation and emission spectroscopy on single MEH-PPV chains at low temperature.
2008
Fluorescence emission and excitation spectra of single MEH-PPV polymer molecules dispersed in thin PMMA films have been recorded at 1.2 and 20 K. We observe single as well as multichromophore emission in single chain emission spectra, whereby the relative fractions depend on the two different molecular weights (50 and 350 kDa) studied. The molecular weight also affects the distribution of peak emission maxima, which is monomodal (bimodal) for the low (high) molecular weight. The appearance of an additional "red" subpopulation for the high molecular weight sample is attributed to interactions of multiple chromophores from a sufficiently flexible single chain. The comparison of emission spect…
