Background The present study aimed to investigate the effect of bacterial cellulose nanocrystals (BCNC) on the shear bond strength (SBS) of resin modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) to dentin. Material and Methods A total of 48 freshly extracted intact third molars were randomly divided into four main groups with three different concentrations (0.3%, 0.5% and 1% wt) of BCNC with RMGIC and control group without BCNC. Shear viscosity of polybutyleneterephthalate/liquid crystal polymer blends

Viscosity measurements have been carried out on blends of polybuty-leneterephthalate (PBT) and a liquid crystalline copolyesteramide (LCP). The flow curves of the blends with LCP content larger than 20%, show a behavior similar to that of the pure LCP, with a rapid rise of the viscosity at low shear rates. The viscosity-composition curves exhibit a deep minimum at low LCP content which may be mainly attributed to the lack of interactions between the two phases.
Transverse shear warping functions for anisotropic multilayered plates

In this work, transverse shear warping functions for an equivalent single layer plate model are formulated from a variational approach. The part of the strain energy which involves the shear phenomenon is expressed in function of the warping functions and their derivatives. The variational calculus leads to a differential system of equations which warping functions must verify. Solving this system requires the choice of values for the (global) shear strains and their derivatives. A particular choice, which is justified for cross-ply laminates, leads to excellent results. Mylonites Derived From Parent Rocks Other Than Granites and Gneisses

Most mylonites shown in this atlas are derived from granites and gneisses. This is not a coincidence; the mineralogy of these rocks favours the formation of mylonites because of the contrasting behaviour of quartz and biotite on the one hand (forming matrix) and feldspar and muscovite on the other hand (forming porphyroclasts). Another group of rocks that readily forms mylonites are impure quartzites in which resistant minerals tend to form fish-like structures, again, by strong contrast in rheological behaviour.

The mechanical strengths of epoxy composites reinforced with silica nanospheres, unfunctionalised or functionalised with either amine or epoxy groups, increase up to a proportion of 5 wt.% of filler, as reflected in a study of the shear storage modulus carried out in dynamic mechanical analysis. This improvement is observed in both glassy and rubbery states, moderately affecting the glass transition temperature of the material. The mechanical properties of epoxy-silica nanocomposites have been studied; the silica nanosphere fillers used were un-functionalised, functionalised with amine, with epoxy, or a mixture of both kinds. Dynamic mechanical analysis measurements revealed an increase in the shear storage modulus, for all samples with a filler content of 3–5%. Improvements were observed in the glassy and rubbery states, without affecting the glass transition temperature of the materials. A first estimate of $\eta/s$ in Au+Au reactions at E$_{\rm lab}=1.23$ $A$GeV

The HADES experiment at GSI has recently provided data on the flow coefficients $v_1,...,v_4$ for protons in Au+Au reactions at $E_{\rm lab} = 1.23$~$A$GeV (or $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=2.4$ GeV). This data allows to estimate the shear viscosity over entropy ratio, $\eta/s$ at low energies via a coarse graining analysis of the UrQMD transport simulations of the flow harmonics in comparison to the experimental data. By this we can provide for the first time an estimate of $\eta/s\approx0.65\pm0.15$ (or $(8\pm2)\,(4\pi)^{-1}$) at such low energies.
Pinning down QCD-matter shear viscosity in A + A collisions via EbyE fluctuations using pQCD + saturation + hydrodynamics

We compute the initial energy densities produced in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions from NLO perturbative QCD using a saturation conjecture to control soft particle production, and describe the subsequent space-time evolution of the system with hydrodynamics, event by event. The resulting centrality dependence of the low-$p_T$ observables from this pQCD + saturation + hydro ("EKRT") framework are then compared simultaneously to the LHC and RHIC measurements. With such an analysis we can test the initial state calculation, and constrain the temperature dependence of the shear viscosity-to-entropy ratio $\eta/s$ of QCD matter. A large portion of the Italian building heritage is made of masonry construc-tions, which were erected in the first decades of the last century and were conceived to support gravitational loads only. Many research activities have been carried out in order to propose retrofitting techniques aimed at improving seismic behaviour of existing ma-sonry buildings.
