Talin1 sets the stage for dendritic cell activation
2020
In dendritic cells, talin1 links integrin binding to efficient TLR downstream signaling through interaction with MyD88 and PIP5K.
Mobile-to-mobile fading channels in amplify-and-forward relay systems under line-of-sight conditions: statistical modeling and analysis
2010
Published version of an article from the journal:Annales des Telecommunications/Annals of Telecommunications. The original publication is available at Springerlink. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s12243-010-0169-z This paper deals with the modeling and analysis of narrowband mobile-to-mobile (M2M) fading channels for amplify-and-forward relay links under line-of-sight (LOS) conditions. It is assumed that a LOS component exists in the direct link between the source mobile station (SMS) and the destination mobile station (DMS), as well as in the links via the mobile relay (MR). The proposed channel model is referred to as the multiple-LOS second-order scattering (MLSS) channel model. The MLSS chan…

Chromostereopsis in "virtual reality" adapters with electrically tuneable liquid lens oculars
2016
Chromostereopsis can be sight and feel in “Virtual Reality” adapters, that induces the appearance of color dependant depth sense and, finally, combines this sense with the source conceived depth scenario. Present studies are devoted to investigation the induced chromastereopsis when using adapted “Virtual Reality” frame together with mobile devices as smartphones. We did observation of composite visual stimuli presented on the high spatial resolution screen of the mobile phone placed inside a portable “Virtual Reality” adapter. Separated for the left and right eyes stimuli consisted of two areas: a) identical for both eyes color chromostereopsis part, and b) additional conventional color ne…
Acquiring music information : An incidental learning approach.
2022
This thesis contains my empirical works resulting from three years of studying contingency learning, that is the human ability to learn regularities between two or more events, applied to music. Learning music requires time and effort. However, many skills can be automatized in less time-consuming and effortful ways. Indeed, some research suggests that many elements of music knowledge are mostly implicitly acquired. In Chapter 1, the potential benefit of using an incidental learning procedure to automatize musical sub-skills useful for sight-reading and for pitch identification is discussed. In Chapter 2, the first set of experiments investigate whether an incidental contingency learning ta…
Extending the Concept of Knowledge Management into Innovation and New Business Creation
2018
Knowledge management (KM) is a widely-used term in management science of 2000’s. The key essence of KM can be coined e.g. as a “purposeful management of activities and processes for leveraging knowledge to keep and improve competitive positioning by using well individual and collective knowledge resources of the firm and its stakeholders” (CEN, 2004). Majority of the KM discussion and research has focused on recognition, expression and dissemination of knowledge as it manifests itself in the present day of an organization. Research has focused on tangible knowledge artefacts such as Patents, Utility models, Trademarks, Licenses. The processes of creation and maintenance of knowledge are use…
Health literacy and its association with health outcomes among students in upper secondary education
2022
Abstract Background Health literacy (HL) - as a broad range of health-related competencies and skills- has been recognized as a determinant of health outcomes, and suggested to be a modifiable health resource and a factor contributing to empowerment and equity. Thus, there is a need to identify the state of HL in various population groups. The aim of this study was to investigate HL levels and associations between HL, physical activity and subjective health among students in general upper secondary and vocational Swedish-language schools in Finland. Methods The study used cross-sectional data from the Finnish LIITU-study among students in Swedish-speaking general upper secondary and vocatio…
Performance Analysis of M-Ary PSK Modulation Schemes over Multiple Double Rayleigh Fading Channels with EGC in Cooperative Networks
2010
This article studies the performance of M-ary phase shift keying (PSK) modulation schemes over mobile-to-mobile (M2M) fading channels with equal gain combining (EGC) in cooperative networks. The frequency-nonselective M2M fading channels are modeled assuming non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation conditions. Furthermore, a dual-hop amplify-and-forward relay type cooperative network is taken into consideration here. It is assumed that K diversity branches are present between the source mobile station and the destination mobile station via K mobile relays. The performance of M-ary PSK modulation schemes is analyzed by evaluating the average bit error probability (BEP). We have derived a simple …
A Novel Amplify-and-Forward Relay Channel Model for Mobile-to-Mobile Fading Channels under Line-of-Sight Conditions
2021
In this chapter, we have proposed a new flexible M2M amplify-and-forward relay fading channel model under LOS propagation conditions. The novelty in the model is that we have considered the LOS components in both transmission links, i.e., the direct link between the source mobile station and the destination mobile station as well as the link via the mobile relay. By analogy with multiple scattering radio propagation channels, we have developed the MLSS fading channel as a second-order scattering channel, where the received signal comprises the single and double scattered components. Furthermore, the flexibility of the MLSS fading channel model comes from the fact that it can be reduced to d…
