Optimal control of discrete-time interval type-2 fuzzy-model-based systems with D-stability constraint and control saturation

2016

This paper investigates the optimal control problem for discrete-time interval type-2 (IT2) fuzzy systems with pole constraints. An IT2 fuzzy controller is characterized by two predefined functions, and the membership functions and the premise rules of the IT2 fuzzy controller can be chosen freely. The pole assignment is considered, which is constrained in a presented disk region. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, sufficient conditions of asymptotic stability with an H ∞ performance are obtained for the discrete-time IT2 fuzzy model based (FMB) system. Based on the criterion, the desired IT2 state-feedback controller is designed to guarantee that the closed-loop system is asymptotically s…

An algebraic continuous time parameter estimation for a sum of sinusoidal waveform signals

2016

In this paper, a novel algebraic method is proposed to estimate amplitudes, frequencies, and phases of a biased and noisy sum of complex exponential sinusoidal signals. The resulting parameter estimates are given by original closed formulas, constructed as integrals acting as time-varying filters of the noisy measured signal. The proposed algebraic method provides faster and more robust results, compared with usual procedures. Some computer simulations illustrate the efficiency of our method. JOINT TOPOLOGY LEARNING AND GRAPH SIGNAL RECOVERY VIA KALMAN FILTER IN CAUSAL DATA PROCESSES

2018

In this paper, a joint graph-signal recovery approach is investigated when we have a set of noisy graph signals generated based on a causal graph process. By leveraging the Kalman filter framework, a three steps iterative algorithm is utilized to predict and update signal estimation as well as graph topology learning, called Topological Kalman Filter or TKF. Similar to the regular Kalman filter, we first predict the a posterior signal state based on the prior available data and then this prediction is updated and corrected based on the recently arrived measurement. But contrary to the conventional Kalman filter algorithm, we have no information of the transition matrix and hence we relate t…

Fast Earth Mover's Distance Computation for Catadioptric Image Sequences

2016

International audience; Earth mover's distance is one of the most effective metric for comparing histograms in various image retrieval applications. The main drawback is its computational complexity which hinders its usage in various comparison tasks. We propose fast earth mover's distance computation by providing better initialization to the transportation simplex algorithm. The new approach enables faster EMD computation in Visual Memory (VM) compared to the state of the art methods. The new proposed strategy computes earth mover distance without compromising its accuracy.

Multi-band identification for enhancing bearing fault detection in variable speed conditions

2020

Abstract Rolling element bearings are crucial components in rotating machinery, and avoiding unexpected breakdowns using fault detection methods is an increased demand in industry today. Variable speed conditions render a challenge for vibration-based fault diagnosis due to the non-stationary impact frequency. Computed order tracking transforms the vibration signal from time domain to the shaft-angle domain, allowing order analysis with the envelope spectrum. To enhance fault detection, the bearing resonance frequency region is isolated in the raw signal prior to order tracking. Identification of this region is not trivial but may be estimated using kurtosis-based methods reported in the li…

Integrated WAAM-Subtractive Versus Pure Subtractive Manufacturing Approaches: An Energy Efficiency Comparison

2019

Over the last years, additive manufacturing (AM) has been gathering momentum both in the academic and in the industrial world. Besides the obvious benefits in terms of flexibility and process capabilities, the environmental performance of such processes has still to be properly analyzed. Actually, the advantages of additive manufacturing over conventional processes are not obvious. Indeed, different manufacturing approaches result in different amounts of involved material and in different processing energy demands. Environmental comparative analyses are hence crucial to properly characterize AM processes. In this paper, an energetic comparison between the emerging wire arc additive manufact…

A Review of Recent Range Image Registration Methods with Accuracy Evaluation

2007

International audience; The three-dimensional reconstruction of real objects is an important topic in computer vision. Most of the acquisition systems are limited to reconstruct a partial view of the object obtaining in blind areas and occlusions, while in most applications a full reconstruction is required. Many authors have proposed techniques to fuse 3D surfaces by determining the motion between the different views. The first problem is related to obtaining a rough registration when such motion is not available. The second one is focused on obtaining a fine registration from an initial approximation. In this paper, a survey of the most common techniques is presented. Furthermore, a sampl…

Registration of Surfaces Minimizing Error Propagation for a One-Shot Multi-Slit Hand-Held Scanner

2008

We propose an algorithm for the on-line automatic registration of multiple 3D surfaces acquired in a sequence by a new hand-held laser scanner. The laser emitter is coupled with an optical lens that spreads the light forming 19 parallel slits that are projected to the scene and acquired with subpixel accuracy by a camera. Splines are used to interpolate the acquired profiles to increase the sample of points and Delaunay triangulation is used to obtain the normal vectors at every point. A point-to-plane pair-wise registration method is proposed to align the surfaces in pairs while they are acquired, conforming paths and eventually cycles that are minimized once detected. The algorithm is spe…

State Observer with Round-Robin Aperiodic Sampled Measurements with Jitter

2021

International audience; A sampled-data observer is proposed for linear continuous-time systems whose outputs are sequentially sampled via non-uniform sampling intervals repeating a prescribed Round-Robin sequence. With constant sampling intervals (jitter-free case) we provide constructive necessary and sufficient conditions for the design of an asymptotic continuous-discrete observer whose estimation error is input-to-state stable (ISS) from process disturbances and measurement noise. We use a time-varying gain depending on the elapsed time since the last measurement. With non-constant sampling intervals (jitter-tolerant case), our design conditions are only sufficient. A suspension system …

An algebraic approach for human posture estimation in the sagittal plane using accelerometer noisy signal

2012

International audience; Our aim is to develop an algebraic approach to estimate human posture in the sagittal plane using Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) providing accelerations and angular velocities. To do it so, we address the issue of the estimation of the amplitude, frequency and phase of a biased and noisy sum of three sinusoidal waveform signals on a moving time horizon. Since the length of the time window is small, the estimation must be done within a fraction of the signal's period. The problem is solved via algebraic techniques (see [38] for the theoretical part concerning this problem). The efficiency of our approach is illustrated by computer simulations.
