Ferrocenyl-functionalized long chain branched polydienes

2009

A convenient two-step approach for the synthesis of ferrocenyl-functionalized long chain branched polydienes, based on both butadiene and isoprene, respectively, is presented. Classical living anionic polymerization was used to synthesize different AB n type poly(diene) macromonomers with moderate molecular weights between 1700 and 3200 g/mol and narrow polydispersity. Quantitative end-capping with chlorodimethylsilane resulted in the desired AB n macromonomer structures. In the ensuing Pt-catalyzed hydrosilylation polyaddition, branched, functionalized polydienes were obtained by a concurrent AB n + AR type of copolymerization with mono-and difunctional ferrocenyl silanes (fcSiMe 2 H or fc…

ChemInform Abstract: Toward an Understanding of the Mechanisms of the Intramolecular [5 + 2] Cycloaddition Reaction of γ-Pyrones Bearing Tethered Alk…

2000

The molecular mechanism for the intramolecular [5 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of β-silyloxy-γ-pyrones bearing tethered alkenes has been characterized using ab initio methods. A comparative study for this sort of cycloaddition carried out at different computational levels points out that the B3LYP/6-31G* calculations give similar barriers to those obtained with the MP3/6-31G* level. Analysis of the energetic results shows that the reaction takes place along a stepwise process:  first, the migration of the neighboring silyl group to the carbonyl group of the γ-pyrone takes place to give a weak oxidopyrylium ylide intermediate, which by a subsequent concerted intramolecular [5 + 2] cycloadditi…

Qualitative and quantitative evaluation of mono- and disaccharides in d-fructose, d-glucose and sucrose caramels by gas–liquid chromatography–mass sp…

1999

The monosaccharide (D-fructose, D-glucose, anhydrosugars), disaccharide (glucobioses) and pseudodisaccharide (di-D-fructose dianhydrides) content of D-fructose, D-glucose and sucrose caramels has been determined by gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (GLC-MS) of their trimethylsilyl (TMS) or TMS-oxime derivatives. The chromatographic profiles revealed significant differences in the disaccharide/pseudodisaccharide distribution depending on the caramel source: a D-fructose caramel contains prominent proportions of di-D-fructose dianhydrides, a D-glucose caramel mainly D-glucobioses, and a sucrose caramel similar proportions of both disaccharide/pseudodisaccharide series. It is notewor…

N-{(Z)-2-[1-(Triisopropylsilyl)-1H-indol-3-yl]-2-(triisopropylsilyloxy)vinyl}-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)acetamide

2007

The molecular structure of the title compound, C39H62N2O5Si2, obtained as an unexpected side product, was determined in the course of our studies on the synthesis of N-triisopropyl-1H-indol-3-yl derivatives. Interestingly, although the triisopropylsilyl group was intended as a temporary protecting group, the compound comprises a remarkably stable N—Si bond. The vinyl C=C double bond possesses a Z configuration.

FeCl3·6H2O-catalyzed Mukaiyama-aldol type reactions of enolizable aldehydes and acetals.

2014

Mukaiyama-aldol type reactions of acetals derived from enolizable aldehydes with FeCl3·6H2O, an eco-friendly, low-cost, and stable catalyst, lead to β-methoxycarbonyl compounds with nearly quantitative yields. The methodology is extended to the parent aldehydes as starting materials, leading to the corresponding aldols with lower yields, but efficiently. Different alkyl and aryl substituted acetals and aldehydes have been tested in the reaction with linear and cyclic silyl enol ethers. Reactions are carried out in an open air atmosphere, and additives are not required. Acetals can be considered activating groups of the carbonyl moiety rather than a protecting group in this type of FeCl3·6H2…

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of 3-Substituted Isoindolin-1-ones via a Tandem Desilylation, Cross-Coupling, Hydroamidation Sequence under Aqueous Ph…

2016

A simple and expedient method for the synthesis of 3-methylene-isoindolin-1-ones 4 under aqueous phase-transfer conditions has been developed. Starting from 2-iodobenzamides 1 and (silyl)alkynes, the products are obtained in high yields and short reaction times (30 min) with the use of inexpensive CuCl/PPh3 catalyst system in the presence of n-Bu4NBr (TBAB) as a phase-transfer agent. Terminal alkynes are conveniently “unmasked” upon in situ desilylation under the reaction conditions. Alkynes possessing heterocyclic moieties were also found as amenable substrates. Furthermore, a one-pot process starting from 2-iodobenzamides 1, aryl halides (bromides or iodides) and trimethylsilylacetylene (…
