Optical switching of quantum states inside self-assembled quantum dots
2008
Abstract Photoluminescence and excitation of photoluminescence spectroscopy have been performed for two kinds of single InAs self-assembled quantum dots grown on GaAs. The presence of unintentional impurities (donors and acceptors) offers the possibility to switch from negative to positively charged excitons by selectively exciting impurity related optical transitions.
Experimente zur Entwicklung eines implantierbaren und dauernd funktionsfähigen Glukose-Sensors auf Basis der Polarimetrie - Experiments Aimed at Enab…
1995
In vitro and in vivo experiments devised with the aim of developing a permanently implantable glucose sensor based on polarimetry are described. It was found that in ultrafiltrated human blood plasma the overall optical rotation was 94% specific for glucose, and that polarisation photometry yielded a sufficiently sensitive signal for in vivo glucose detection. The three types of capillary membrane intended for implantation that we tested, revealed an in vitro response time to glucose concentration of 10 minutes; when implanted, they maintain this over a period of weeks, during which time the same glucose concentrations can be measured daily in ultrafiltrated capillary fluid as in the blood …
CT-Angiographie versus intraarterielle DSA bei Bauchaortenaneurysmen
1996
PURPOSE To evaluate if CT angiography is able to image all features necessary for the preoperative planning of abdominal aortic aneurysms (accessory renal arteries, stenoses or occlusions of renal and iliac arteries, patency of inferior mesenteric artery). METHODS CT angiography and DSA were performed on 27 patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms. CT angiography was performed using a protocol that covered the abdominal aorta and the pelvic arteries with a single spiral acquisition (contrast dose: 150 ml, collimation: 5 mm, table feed: 7.5 mm/s, increment of reconstruction: 2 mm). Maximum intensity projections (MIP) and axial scans were compared with the results of intraarterial DSA. RESULT…

Real-time High Dynamic Range based on Multiple Non Destructive ReadOut during a Single Exposure
2017
This paper presents a new method based on Non Destructive Readout (NDRO) to improve multi-exposure High Dynamic Range (HDR) Imaging. A sequence of Low-Dynamic Range (LDR) images can then be acquired during a single exposure. The concept enables the latency between LDR images to be removed as well as the intrinsic ghost artifacts observed using state-of-art HDR systems based on multi-exposures. The method has been applied to improve the performances of HDR sensor based on logarithmic pixels. Using the NDRO method, a Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR) camera has been designed to produce HDR IR videos. A real-time HDR video stream generation is achieved based on GPU implantation.
Single ion magnet behaviour in a two-dimensional network of dicyanamide-bridged cobalt(II) ions
2015
A novel two-dimensional coordination polymer of the formula [Co(dca)2(atz)2]n (1) resulted from assembling trans-bis(2-amino-1,3,5-triazine)cobalt(II) motifs by dicyanamide spacers. Variable-temperature dc and ac magnetic susceptibility measurements of 1 show that the high-spin cobalt(II) ions act as single ion magnets (SIMs).

{CoIIIMnIII}ncorrugated chains based on heteroleptic cyanido metalloligands
2015
The use of the cyanide-bearing complexes PPh4[CoIII(4,4′-dmbipy)(CN)4] and PPh4[CoII(dmphen)(CN)3] as metalloligands towards [Mn(salen)(H2O)]ClO4 affords one-dimensional coordination polymers with the formulas {[MnIII(salen)(μ-NC)2CoIII(4,4-dmbipy)(CN)2]·H2O}n (1) and {[MnIII(salen)(μ-NC)2CoIII(dmphen)(CN)2]}n (2) [PPh4+ = tetraphenylphosphonium cation, 4,4′-dmbipy = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine, dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and H2salen = N,N′-ethylenebis(salicylideneimine)]. Compounds 1 and 2 were structurally characterized. Their structures consist of neutral chains with regular alternating [Mn(salen)]+ and [CoIII(4,4′-dmbipy)(CN)4]− (1)/[CoIII(dmphen)(CN)4]− (2) moieties, t…
A METHOD FOR STUDYING GENETICS OF THE PREDATORY MITE PHYTOSEIULUS PERSIMILIS
2008
Two DNA extraction and purification procedures for single mite analysis, organic (phenol-chloroform) method and the Chelex® -100 DNA extraction procedure, have been compared concerning extraction efficiency, DNA purity and DNA suitability for amplification. Phenol-chloroform extraction takes a relatively long period of time (5 days) and involves the use of toxic and hazardous chemical reagents but it produces consistent results. Chelex is a chelating resin that has a high affinity for polyvalent metal ions, Singer-Sam et al. postulated that boiling a sample in the presence of chelex prevents the degradation of DNA. Both method were evaluated to extract DNA from single frozen mite or individ…
