Synthesis of new half sandwich tetrachloro derivatives of molybdenum(V) and tungsten(V). X-ray structures of (C5HPri4)W(CO)3(CH3) and (C5Et5)WCl4

2002

International audience; The new synthetic intermediates (Ring)MCl4 [Ring=C5HPri4 or 4Cp, M=Mo, 2; Ring=C5Et5 or VCp, M=W, 4, Ring=4Cp, M=W, 6] containing sterically protecting cyclopentadienyl ligands have been synthesized. Along the synthetic pathway to 2, it was found that the treatment of [4CpMo(CO)3]− with an aqueous ferric solution according to the well established Manning procedure affords the hydride compound 4CpMo(CO)3H (1) by hydrolysis rather than the expected neutral dimer by oxidation. Compound 1 could be converted, however, to 2 upon oxidation with PhICl2 in good yields. Compound 4 is shown by a single crystal X-ray analysis to adopt a monomeric four-legged piano stool structur…

Single chain magnet behaviour in an enantiopure chiral cobalt(II)–copper(II) one-dimensional compound

2010

The self-assembly of an enantiomerically pure, chiral dianionic oxamatocopper(II) complex with cobalt(II) ions leads to neutral oxamato-bridged heterobimetallic chains that combine chirality and slow magnetic relaxation, providing thus the first example of ‘‘chiral single chain magnets (CSCMs). Binding Mode and Selectivity of a Scorpiand-Like Polyamine Ligand to Single- and Double-Stranded DNA and RNA: Metal- and pH-Driven Modulation

2017

The interaction of a polyazacyclophane ligand having an ethylamine pendant arm functionalized with an anthryl group (L), with the single-stranded polynucleotides polyA, polyG, polyU, and polyC as well as with the double-stranded polynucleotides polyA-polyU, poly(dAT)(2), and poly(dGC)(2) has been followed by UV/Vis titration, steady state fluorescence spectroscopy, and thermal denaturation measurements. In the case of the single-stranded polynucleotides, the UV/Vis and fluorescence titrations permit to distinguish between sequences containing purine and pyrimidine bases. For the double-stranded polynucleotides the UV/Vis measurements show for all of them hypochromicity and bathochromic shif…

Diphenyltin(IV) complexes of the 5-[(E)-2-(aryl)-1-diazenyl]quinolin-8-olates: Synthesis and multinuclear NMR, 119Sn Mössbauer, electrospray ionizati…

2006

Abstract A series of cis-bis{5-[(E)-2-(aryl)-1-diazenyl]quinolinolato}diphenyltin(IV) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C, 119Sn NMR, ESI-MS, IR and 119mSn Mossbauer spectroscopic techniques in combination with elemental analysis. The structures of a ligand L6H (i.e., 5-[(E)-2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-1-diazenyl]quinolin-8-ol) and three diphenyltin(IV) complexes, viz., Ph2Sn(L1)2 · (CH3)2CO (1), Ph2Sn(L4)2 (4) and Ph2Sn(L5)2 (5) (L = 5-[(E)-2-(aryl)-1-diazenyl]quinolin-8-ol: aryl = phenyl – (L1H); 4′-methylphenyl – (L4H) and 4′-bromophenyl – (L5H)) were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In general, the complexes were found to adopt a distorted cis-octahedral a…

Inclusion complexes of Cethyl-2-methylresorcinarene and pyridine N-oxides: breaking the C–I⋯−O–N+ halogen bond by host–guest complexation

2016

C ethyl-2-Methylresorcinarene forms host–guest complexes with aromatic N-oxides through multiple intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds and C–H⋯π interactions. The host shows conformational flexibility to accommodate 3-methylpyridine N-oxide, while retaining a crown conformation for 2-methyl- and 4-methoxypyridine N-oxides highlighting the substituent effect of the guest. N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide, a 6-membered ring aliphatic N-oxide with a methyl at the N-oxide nitrogen, is bound by the equatorial −N–CH3 group located deep in the cavity. 2-Iodopyridine N-oxide is the only guest that manifests intermolecular N–O⋯I–C halogen bond interactions, which are broken down by the host resulting i…

Generation, Characterization, and Electrochemical Behavior of the Palladium-Hydride Cluster [Pd3(dppm)3(3-CO)(3-H)]+ (dppm=Bis(diphenylphosphinometha…

2007

Addition of formate on the dicationic cluster [Pd(3)(dppm)(3)(mu(3)-CO)](2+) (dppm=bis(diphenylphosphinomethane) affords quantitatively the hydride cluster [Pd(3)(dppm)(3)(mu(3)-CO)(mu(3)-H)](+). This new palladium-hydride cluster has been characterised by (1)H NMR, (31)P NMR and UV/Vis spectroscopy and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The unambiguous identification of the capping hydride was made from (2)H NMR spectroscopy by using DCO(2) (-) as starting material. The mechanism of the hydride complex formation was investigated by UV/Vis stopped-flow methods. The kinetic data are consistent with a two-step process involving: 1) host-guest interactions between HCO(2) (-) and [Pd(3)(dppm)(3)(mu(3…

Synthesis of a labile sulfur-centred ligand, [S(H)C(PPh2S)2]−: structural diversity in lithium(i), zinc(ii) and nickel(ii) complexes

2016

A high-yield synthesis of [Li{S(H)C(PPh2S)2}]2 [Li2·(3)2] was developed and this reagent was used in metathesis with ZnCl2 and NiCl2 to produce homoleptic complexes 4 and 5b in 85 and 93% yields, respectively. The solid-state structure of the octahedral complex [Zn{S(H)C(PPh2S)2}2] (4) reveals notable inequivalence between the Zn-S(C) and Zn-S(P) contacts (2.274(1) Å vs. 2.842(1) and 2.884(1) Å, respectively). Two structural isomers of the homoleptic complex [Ni{S(H)C(PPh2S)2}2] were isolated after prolonged crystallization processes. The octahedral green Ni(ii) isomer 5a exhibits the two monoprotonated ligands bonded in a tridentate (S,S',S'') mode to the Ni(ii) centre with three distinctl…

Self-assembly of metallosupramolecular rhombi from chiral concave 9,9'-spirobifluorene-derived bis(pyridine) ligands.

2014

Two new 9,9’-spirobifluorene-based bis(4-pyridines) were synthesised in enantiopure and one also in racemic form. These ligands act as concave templates and form metallosupramolecular [(dppp)2M2L2] rhombi with cis-protected [(dppp)Pd]2+ and [(dppp)Pt]2+ ions. The self-assembly process of the racemic ligand preferably occurs in a narcissistic self-recognising manner. Hence, a mixture of all three possible stereoisomers [(dppp)2M2{(R)-L}2](OTf)4, [(dppp)2M2{(S)-L}2](OTf)4, and [(dppp)2M2{(R)-L}{(S)-L}](OTf)4 was obtained in an approximate 1.5:1.5:1 ratio which corresponds to an amplification of the homochiral assemblies by a factor of approximately three as evidenced by NMR spectroscopy and m…

Guest Removal and External Pressure Variation Induce Spin Crossover in Halogen-Functionalized 2-D Hofmann Frameworks.

2020

The effect of halogen functionalization on the spin crossover (SCO) properties of a family of 2-D Hofmann framework materials, [FeIIPd(CN)4(thioX)2]·2H2O (X = Cl and Br; thioCl = (E)-1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)-N-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)methanimine) and thioBr = (E)-1-(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-N-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)methanimine)), is reported. Inclusion of both the chloro- and bromo-functionalized ligands into the Hofmann-type frameworks (1Cl·2H2O and 2Br·2H2O) results in a blocking of spin-state transitions due to internal chemical pressure effects derived by the collective steric bulk of the halogen atoms and guest molecules. Cooperative one-step SCO transitions are revealed by either guest r…
