Essays on Risk Disclosure: Evidence from the Banking Industry
2021
Primary endpoint results of the OMEGA Study: One-year clinical outcomes after implantation of a novel platinum chromium bare metal stent.
2014
Bare metal stents (BMS) have similar rates of death and myocardial infarction (MI) compared to drug-eluting stents (DES). DES lower repeat revascularization rates compared to BMS, but may have higher rates of late stent thrombosis (ST) potentially due to impaired endothelialization requiring longer dual anti-platelet therapy (DAPT). OMEGA evaluated a novel BMS designed to have improved deliverability and radiopacity, in comparison to currently available platforms.OMEGA was a prospective, multicenter, single-arm study enrolling 328 patients at 37 sites (US and Europe). Patients received the OMEGA stent (bare platinum chromium element stent) for the treatment of de novo native coronary artery…
Identity and Cultural Transition: Lessons to Learn from a Negative Case Analysis
2020
In this paper, we present a single case study of identity crisis that unfolded in the cultural transition context. Our participant was ‘Jenni’ – a 26 years old female basketball player with the dou...

Surface plasmon propagation in metal nanowires
2012
Plasmonic circuitry is considered as a promising solution-effectivetechnology for miniaturizing and integrating the next generation ofoptical nano-devices. The realization of a practical plasmonic circuitry strongly depends on the complete understanding of the propagation properties of two key elements: surface plasmons and electrons. The critical part constituting the plasmonic circuitry is a waveguide which can sustain the two information-carriers simultaneously. Therefore, we present in this thesis the investigations on the propagation of surface plasmons and the co-propagation of surface plasmons and electrons in single crystalline metal nanowires. This thesis is therefore divided into …
ChemInform Abstract: An Easy Access to Fused Chromanones via Rhodium Catalyzed Oxidative Coupling of Salicylaldehydes with Heterobicyclic Olefins.
2016
Diazabicyclic and urea-derived bicyclic olefins react with salicylaldehydes to produce various types of fused chromanone systems of biological interest in a single step (mechanism).
Eight-membered Rings with Two Heteroatoms 1,3
2008
This chapter deals with heterocine rings with two heteroatoms in a 1,3-relationship, namely 1,3-diazocine, 2H-1,3-oxazocine, 2H-1,3-thiazocine, 4H-1,3-dioxocin, and 4H-1,3-dithiocin. On the 4H-1,3-oxathiocin ring system, belonging to the diheterocine family, in the past decade, no chemistry was reported. This chapter covers the literature from 1996 to 2006 and also reports those articles published in 1995 which were not reported in CHEC-II(1996). In this edition, in addition to the uncondensed derivatives, eight-membered 1,2-heterocycles fused to five-, six-, and seven-membered carbocycles or heterocycles are covered. Bridged heterocines, which actually constitute the majority of the compou…
Facile synthesis of 5β-cholane-sym-triazine conjugates starting from metformin and bile acid methyl esters: Liquid and solid state NMR characterizati…
2009
Abstract Four bile acid-triazine conjugates: N2′,N2′-dimethyl-6′-(3α-hydroxy-5β-24-norcholyl)-1′,3′,5′-triazine-2′,4′-diamine (lithocholyl triazine, 4a), N2′,N2′-dimethyl-6′-(3α,7α-dihydroxy-5β-24-norcholyl)-1′,3′,5′-triazine-2′,4′-diamine (chenodeoxycholyl triazine, 4b), N2′,N2′-dimethyl-6′6′-(3α,12α-dihydroxy-5β-24-norcholyl)-1′,3′,5′-triazine-2′,4′-diamine (deoxycholyl triazine) (4c), and N2′,N2′-dimethyl-6′-(3α,7α,12α-trihydroxy-5β-24-norcholyl)-1′,3′,5′-triazine-2′,4′-diamine (cholyl triazine) (4d) have been prepared and characterized by liquid and solid state NMR. An improved synthetic method produced better yields and an easier purification procedure for 4d than reported in the liter…
Solid state structural studies of five bile acid derivatives
2008
Five synthetically important bile acid derivatives have been characterized by 13 C CP-MAS, X-ray diffraction (both single crystal and powder), FTIR, and thermoanalytical (DSC and TG) methods. The crystallinity of all these derivatives is high, which can be deducted from the 13 C CP-MAS and powder X-ray diffraction data. Two of the compounds showed polymorphism, and one polymorph was structurally elucidated for both by comparing single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction data.
Detection of condition-specific marker genes from RNA-seq data with MGFR
2019
The identification of condition-specific genes is key to advancing our understanding of cell fate decisions and disease development. Differential gene expression analysis (DGEA) has been the standard tool for this task. However, the amount of samples that modern transcriptomic technologies allow us to study, makes DGEA a daunting task. On the other hand, experiments with low numbers of replicates lack the statistical power to detect differentially expressed genes. We have previously developed MGFM, a tool for marker gene detection from microarrays, that is particularly useful in the latter case. Here, we have adapted the algorithm behind MGFM to detect markers in RNA-seq data. MGFR groups s…
