Abstract Elasmobranchs, extremely charismatic and threatened animals, still are an important economic source for fishers in many parts of the world, providing significant income through trade. Even though Greek seas host at least 67 elasmobranch species, our knowledge about their biology and ecology is to a large extent unknown. Globally, commercial fisheries have had a strong impact on elasmobranch populations directly through high catch rates and indirectly through bycatch. Consequently, the abundance of many species is declining to the extent that some are considered under threat of extinction. Regionally, this negative trend is also evident in the international waters of the southern Grand Banks (off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada), where the occurrence of the thorny skate (Amblyraja radiata) has declined by nearly 70% in recent decades. Bakalaura darbā tiek risināta problēma par uzskates līdzekļu pareizu izvēli un tādu to efektīvu pielietojumu, lai tie tiešām veicinātu katra skolēna jēgpilnu iesaisti mācībās jeb mācīšanos iedziļinoties. Lai sasniegtu darba mērķi un atbildētu uz pētījuma jautājumu, tiek veikta pedagoģiskās un psiholoģiskās literatūras analīze un veikts empīriskais pētījums. Empīriskajā pētījumā tiek veikta 1. klases skolotāju daļēji strukturēta aptauja, tiek aprobēti bakalaura darba autores pašizgatavotie uzskates līdzekļi un izzinātas skolēnu domas par to ietekmi uz latviešu valodas apguvi.
Structure, chromosomal localization, and brain expression of human Cx36 gene

Rat connexin-36 (Cx36) is the first gap junction protein shown to be expressed predominantly in neuronal cells of the mammalian central nervous system. As a prerequisite for studies devoted to the investigation of the possible role of this connexin in human neurological diseases, we report the cloning and sequencing of the human Cx36 gene, its chromosomal localization, and its pattern of expression in the human brain analyzed by radioactive in situ hybridization. Changes in biomechanics of skiing at maximal velocity caused by simulated 20 km skiing race using V2 skating technique

This study investigated how the fatigue caused by a 20 km simulated skating cross-country skiing race on snow affects the final spurt performance from a biomechanical perspective. Subjects performed a 100 meter maximal skiing trial before and at the end of the simulated race. Cycle characteristics, ground reaction forces from skis and poles, and muscle activity from eight muscles were recorded during each trial. Results showed that subjects were in a fatigued state after the simulated race manifested by 11.6% lower skiing speed (P < 0.01). Ievads. Vadīšanas traucējumi pēc transkatetra aortas vārstuļa implantācijas (TAVI) ir bieži sastopami. Ar izmantotu CoreValve protēzi pastāvīgā elektrokardiostimulatora (EKS) implantācija ir līdz 40%. 3. pakāpes atrioventrikulāra (AV) blokāde pēc TAVI ir viens no sinkopes un pēkšņas kardiālas nāves iemesliem, kuru var novērst savlaicīgi implantējot pastāvīgo EKS. Validation of portable 2D force binding systems for cross-country skiing

The aim of the present study was to design, construct and scientifically validate a two-dimensional force measurement binding system for cross-country skiing. The system consists of two force measurement bindings. One binding was designed for analysing classic skiing (vertical and anterior–posterior [along the ski] force components) and the other one for skate (freestyle) skiing (vertical and medio-lateral [transverse to the ski] force components).
