Representing the Practice of Teachers' Pedagogical Knowing

This study consists of five international articles and an introductory background review. Its focus is on the nature and structure of teachers' pedagogical knowing. Pedagogical knowing is characterized as an active process by which teachers perform their duties in situations involving intense social interactions. This study treats teachers' pedagogical knowing as a broad theoretical concept and as an extended practice. Patterns of teachers' narratives are analysed as reflecting the general nature of this type of knowing. The theoretical background consists of three concepts. Lai lasītu digitālajā vidē ir jāattīsta īpašas digitālās lasītprasmes, piemēram, navigācijas prasmes un pašregulācija. Lasīšanas stratēģijas palīdz pielietot un attīstīt digitālās lasīšanas prasmes. Diplomdarba mērķis bija noteikt, kā lasīšanas stratēģiju īstenošana attīsta digitālās lasītprasmes angļu valodas stundās 7. klasē. Izvēlētā pētījuma metode bija gadījuma izpēte. Datu vākšanas metodes bija skolēnu aptauja, intervijas ar diviem skolotājiem, lasīšanas nodarbību novērojumi, skolēnu grafikas organizatori un mājas uzdevumi. Professional identity in relation to vocational teachers’ work : an identity-centred approach to professional development

This paper reports a study on teachers’ professional identity and work in vocational education. The findings showed that vocational teachers’ work included vocational teaching within the school, developmental work, technology-enhanced work, professional duties outside the school, and educational duties within the school. Furthermore, the study revealed the harmonious and tensioned relationships between these elements of the work and teachers’ identities. Recognition of the nuanced nature of these relationships provides a perspective for promoting teachers’ professional development. In this paper, we identify associations between formal, non‐formal and informal learning with sufficient problem‐solving skills in technology‐rich environments (TRE). We focus on adults' problem‐solving skills in TRE as a novel approach to investigate formal, non‐formal and informal learning based on data from the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies. Objective Online health and social care services are getting widespread which increases the risk that less advantaged groups may not be able to access these services resulting in digital exclusion. We examined the combined effects of age and digital competence on the use of online health and social care services. Methods We used a large representative population-based sample of 4495 respondents from Finland. Paper-based self-assessment questionnaire with an online response option was mailed to participants.
