Regulation of the hDlg/hScrib/Hugl-1 tumour suppressor complex.

The proper function of the Scribble tumour suppressor complex is dependent upon the correct localisation of its components. Previously we observed dynamic relocalisation of the hDlg component under conditions of osmotic stress. We now show that the other two components of the complex, hScrib and Hugl-1 display similar patterns of expression. We demonstrate, by shRNA ablation of hScrib expression, that hDlg and Hugl-1 are in part dependent upon hScrib for their correct localization. However under conditions of osmotic stress this apparent dependency no longer exists: hDlg and Hugl-1 localise to cell membranes independently of hScrib. JIMWLK evolution of the odderon

We study the effects of a parity-odd "odderon" correlation in JIMWLK renormalization group evolution at high energy. Firstly we show that in the eikonal picture where the scattering is described by Wilson lines, one obtains a strict mathematical upper limit for the magnitude of the odderon amplitude compared to the parity even pomeron one. This limit increases with N_c, approaching infinity in the infinite N_c limit. We use a systematic extension of the Gaussian approximation including both 2- and 3-point correlations which enables us to close the system of equations even at finite N_c. We have developed an algorithm for the prediction of dual-targeting short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) in which both strands are deliberately designed to separately target different mRNA transcripts with complete complementarity. An advantage of this approach versus the use of two separate duplexes is that only two strands, as opposed to four, are competing for entry into the RNA-induced silencing complex. Rtp1p Is a Karyopherin-Like Protein Required for RNA Polymerase II Biogenesis

The assembly and nuclear transport of RNA polymerase II (RNA pol II) are processes that require the participation of many auxiliary factors. In a yeast genetic screen, we identified a previously uncharacterized gene, YMR185w (renamed RTP1), which encodes a protein required for the nuclear import of RNA pol II. Using protein affinity purification coupled to mass spectrometry, we identified interactions between Rtp1p and members of the R2TP complex. Rtp1p also interacts, to a different extent, with several RNA pol II subunits. The heterogeneous USH proteins are organized into protein networks. Targeting Homer genes using adeno-associated viral vector: lessons learned from behavioural and neurochemical studies.

Over a decade of in-vitro data support a critical role for members of the Homer family of postsynaptic scaffolding proteins in regulating the functional architecture of glutamate synapses. Earlier studies of Homer knockout mice indicated a necessary role for Homer gene products in normal mesocorticolimbic glutamate transmission and behaviours associated therewith. We studied the competition between heterogeneous and homogeneous nucleation of an aqueous suspension of charged colloidal spheres close to the container walls. Samples of equilibrium crystalline structure were shear-melted and the metastable melt left to solidify after the cessation of shear.
