Il Polar prima del Polar: il poliziesco italo-americano tra fine Ottocento e gli anni Trenta del Novecento

Taking the political and social problems as the primary key of their works these writers want to remove the defamatory role attributed by the public opinion fomented by the press to Italian immigrated community. Their works don’t have the main intent to stage detectives that can solve a case or unmask a culprit but rather they aim to denounce social distortions corruption and injustices suffered by an entire community and not least to indicate the picture of what on the contrary that same society could have been.

Lactate level and handgrip test in migraine and fibromyalgia after self-myofascial release treatment

The Aim of the study was to determine the effect of self-myofascial release (SMFR) treatment on handgrip test score in patients with fibromyalgia and migraine, investigating also if the lactate levels influenced the result. Twenty-five subjects affected by migraine (age 49.7±12.5; height 164.9±6.62 cm; weight 68.6±16.9 kg) and ten subjects affected by fibromyalgia (age 43.7±21.2; height 158±5.65 cm; weight 70±28.9 kg) were enrolled in the study. The assessments included a handgrip test, in order to evaluate isometric strength of both hands and forearm muscles and the lactate levels evaluation. Settore M-GGR/02 - Geografia Economico-PoliticaThe current debate about the Italian territorial reorganization makes again fundamental the concept of «territory». This paper aims to reflect on some important dynamics that concern the idea of territory. More in particular I explore in which form it can be (re)semantised through some tourism representations and narrations able to create specific ways of interaction. By taking into account the case study of the Lonely Planet 2017 digital tourist guidebook dedicated to Sicily that splits (and reorganizes) the island in smaller «regions» it is possible to reflect on a complex space dynamic able to redefine the same idea of territory. Indeed the tourist guidebook uses both texts and geographical maps to propose an anthology of homogeneous and coherent destinations to make the Otherness more accessible for the readers. This process demonstrates how symbolic (re)productions of a territory can give rise to specific constructions of places creating different concepts of region and therefore performative spaces and opportunities of «agency». In other terms the (re)definition of the Sicilian territory proposed by the guide invites tourists to consider a new (narrated) geography invites and invites to interact with it thinking as visitors. From a geographical and cultural point of view reflection on these dynamics allows us to consider some (re)definitions of space in relation to forms of textualization (even on the maps). Prognostic value of IL-6 and IL-10 serum levels and immunonutritional assessment in determining postoperative complications after geriatric surgery

The onset of postoperative septic complications has recently been associated to serum levels of interleukin (IL) IL-6 and IL-10. Patients with complications have higher serum levels than patients without complication after surgery. IL-6 has been recognized as early marker of postoperative septic events. Furthermore IL-6 increases with age, expecially if there are associated diseases. It is a sign of functional deterioration of different organs. Phosphatidylserine liposomes reduce inflammatory response, mycobacterial viability and HIV replication in coinfected human macrophages

AbstractChronic immune activation is the key pathogenetic event of Mycobacterium tuberculosis-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) coinfection. We assessed the therapeutic value of phosphatidylserine-liposome (PS-L) in an in vitro model of M. tuberculosis-HIV coinfection. PS-L reduced nuclear factor-κB activation and the downstream production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and IL-6 in bacille Calmette-Guérin-infected macrophages and of TNF-α and IL-1β in M. tuberculosis-infected and M. tuberculosis-HIV–coinfected macrophages.
