Reactions of α-diimino ligands with the chloro-bridged dimer [RhCl(COD)]2(COD=1,5-cyclooctadiene)
1988
Abstract The reactions of α-diimino ligands N - N ′ [ N - N ′= 2,2′-bipyridine (bipy), C 5 H 4 N2CHNR (R= C 6 H 4 OMe- p , PyCa), RNCHCHNR (R=C 6 H 4 - OMe- p , DAB)] with [RhCl(COD)] 2 give rise to stoichiometry, solvent, ligand, and temperature dependent equilibria. In general, the 1/1 ligand/dimer reaction yields the ionic product [Rh(COD)( N - N ′)] [RhCl 2 (COD)], at room temperature. For N - N ′=DAB, the ionic form is in equilibrium with the binuclear compound [{RhCl(COD)} (μ-DAB){RhCl(COD)}] (containing a σ σ,'- N , N ′ bridging α-diimine), which becomes the predominant species at low temperatures. In [Rh(COD)( N - N ′)] [RhCl 2 (COD)], a fast exchange of the Rh(COD) unit betwe…
Enantioselective Synthesis of α-Quaternary Amino Acids by Alkylation of Deprotonated α-Aminonitriles.
2015
A series of α-quaternary arylglycines were prepared in high optical purity (up to 98% ee) by α-alkylation of deprotonated α-aminonitriles derived by the Strecker reaction from (4S,5S)-5-amino-2,2-dimethyl-4-phenyl-1,3-dioxane. The procedure includes only chromatographic purification of the final products and is devoid of chromatography or crystallization operations on intermediates to raise the optical purity.
Cycloalkin-vinylidencycloalkan-umlagerungen
1989
Abstract Flash pyrolysis of the strained cyclic alkynes 1 leads to ring systems 2 with an exocyclic allene group and in a further isomerization step to the conjugated vinyl compounds 3 .
Synthesis of Spirovetivane Sesquiterpenes from Santonin. Synthesis of (+)-Anhydro-β-rotunol and All Diastereomers of 6,11-Spirovetivadiene
2004
The synthesis of the spirovetivane sesquiterpenes (+)-anhydro-beta-rotunol and all the diastereomers of 6,11-spirovetivadiene in enantiomerically pure form has been achieved starting from santonin. The key step is the silicon-guided acid-promoted rearrangement of a 1-trimethylsilyl-4,5-epoxyeudesmane prepared from santonin in several steps involving lactone reductive opening, conjugate addition of TMSLi-CuCN, deoxygenation of a carbonyl group, and epoxidation. Rearrangement of the epoxide gave a spiro[4,5]decanediol which was used as a synthetic intermediate. From this compound, (+)-anhydro-beta-rotunol was prepared after elimination of the primary hydroxyl group in the side chain, followed…
Synthesis of Lamellarin D Trimethyl Ether and Lamellarin H via 6π-Electrocyclization.
2015
An electrocyclic ring closure of a 2-azapentadienyl anion generated in situ from a chalcone and glycine ester is the key step of an efficient synthesis of the pyrrole core of the lamellarin alkaloids. A recently developed scalable one-pot procedure provides multigram quantities of a 3,5-diaryl-4-iodopyrrole-2-carboxylate intermediate which is transformed in four further high-yielding operations including a one-pot Pomeranz–Fritsch alkylation/cyclization and an Ullmann-type lactone ring closure into the pentacyclic lamellarin skeleton.

Coordination chemistry of N,N′-bis(coordinating group substituted)oxamides: a rational design of nuclearity tailored polynuclear complexes
1999
Abstract The coordinating properties of N , N ′-bis(coordinating group substituted)oxamides have been thoroughly investigated both in aqueous solution and in the solid state. The easy cis – trans isomerization equilibria that they exhibit together with the great variety of N , N ′-substituents which can be used to play on the overall charge, complexing ability and polarity, make them very suitable ligands in designing homo- and heterometallic species. The knowledge of their complex formation in aqueous solution by potentiometry and using the hydrogen ion concentration as a probe, allowed us to settle the basis of a rational design of oxamidate-containing polynuclear species whose nuclearity…

Molecular complexes between glycolic acid and nitrogen were studied in a low-temperature argon matrix with FTIR spectroscopy, and supported by MP2 and BLYPD3 calculations. The calculations indicate 11 and 10 stable complex structures at the MP2 and BLYPD3 levels of theories, respectively. However, only one hydrogen-bonded complex structure involving the most stable SSC conformer of glycolic acid was found experimentally, where the nitrogen molecule is bound with the carboxylic OH group of the SSC conformer. The complex shows a rich site structure variation upon deposition of the matrix in different temperatures and upon annealing experiments, which provide interesting prospects for site-sel…
Action of low doses of Aspirin in Inflammation and Oxidative Stress induced by aβ1-42 on Astrocytes in primary culture
2020
Aspirin has been used as anti-inflammatory and anti-aggregate for decades but the precise mechanism(s) of action after the presence of the toxic peptide Aβ1-42 in cultured astrocytes remains poorly resolved. Here we use low-doses of aspirin (10-7 M) in astrocytes in primary culture in presence or absence of Aβ1-42 toxic peptide. We noted an increase of cell viability and proliferation with or without Aβ1-42 peptide presence in aspirin treated cells. In addition, a decrease in apoptosis, determined by Caspase 3 activity and the expression of Cyt c and Smac/Diablo, were detected. Also, aspirin diminished necrosis process (LDH levels), pro-inflammatory mediators (IL-β and TNF-α) and NF-ᴋB prot…
