In the light of Philipp Sarasin's work in 'Darwin und Foucault: Genealogie und Geschichte im Zeitalter der Biologie', the article delineates a genealogically articulated naturally produced culture and a cultured nature and discusses the genealogical implications of a carnal, becoming self in a world that could rightly be justified "as an aesthetical phenomenon." The article demonstrates the historicity and processual materiality as a conceptual platform for a combination of the notions of experienced carnality and a socially constructed body, demonstrating such a historically embedded carnal body as a binding agent for the "social constructivist" and "biologist" approaches in sciences. Paul Ernest is an internationally recognised authority on the philosophy of social-constructivism particularly in the context of mathematics education. He has published widely on the issue, perhaps his two best known and widely cited works are ‘The Philosophy of Mathematics Education’ (Ernest 1991), and ‘Social Constructivism as a Philosophy of Mathematics’ (Ernest 1998). As one engages with this short paper it is evident that one is in the company of a ‘master’ of the topic. It is quite remarkable how within the space of about 4000 words he manages to produce an erudite and informative account of 4 related theories of learning, and outline some of their implications for teaching.
Interactive Learning Environments (ILEs) as Effective Tools for Teaching Social Sciences

Schoolteachers could enhance learning in social science courses by using teaching tools that favour a methodological approach focused on the topics' basic structure rather than on facts. An innovative system dynamics social-based ILE built with a social constructivist approach is presented here. The pedagogical futures of this ILE are then analysed. The effective impact of different instructional approaches inspired by social-based ILEs on student learning outcomes is also discussed.
