Esto por una parte, es reflejo del crisol de entidades con características diferentes; de la adaptación requerida a las necesidades del territorio o de la actividad; y a qué es lo que queremos medir y en base a qué. In the last two decades, the use of pumice as lightweight aggregate for concrete in structural applications has been the object of different studies. The aim was to find out if pumice can be an alternative to ordinary lightweight aggregate. The present paper is framed in this context. Here, a study is presented showing the use of pumice for making lightweight concrete units for masonry members. Through the paper, the formulation of a mix design for lightweight concrete is proposed. The validation of algorithms developed from in situ reflectance to estimate water quality variables has the challenge of atmospheric correction (AC) when applied to satellite images. Estimating water quality variables from satellite images requires an accurate estimation of remote sensing reflectances (Rrs) which vary according to the AC applied. Refugee testimonies enacted : voice and solidarity in media art installations

This article examines how two media art installations in which celebrity actors enact refugee storytelling create awareness of the complexities of representation and solidarity with refugees. The celebrity actor produces familiarity, or “audibility,” for contents of the stories. Yet at the same time, the familiarity of the actor alerts the visitor to the politics of listening. The artworks therefore produce the potential for ethical listening, which requires interrogation into the privileges of the listener. Dynamics of hydrofracturing and permeability evolution in layered reservoirs

International audience; A coupled hydro-mechanical model is presented to model fluid driven fracturing in layered porous rocks. In the model the solid elastic continuum is described by a discrete element approach coupled with a fluid continuum grid that is used to solve Darcy based pressure diffusion. The model assumes poro-elasto-plastic effects and yields real time dynamic aspects of the fracturing and effective stress evolution under the influence of excess fluid pressure gradients. We show that the formation and propagation of hydrofractures are sensitive to mechanical and tectonic conditions of the system. Residual a posteriori error estimation for frictional contact with Nitsche method

We consider frictional contact problems in small strain elasticity discretized with finite elements and Nitsche method. Both bilateral and unilateral contact problems are taken into account, as well as both Tresca and Coulomb models for the friction. We derive residual a posteriori error estimates for each friction model, following [Chouly et al, IMA J. Numer. Anal. (38) 2018, pp. 921-954]. For the incomplete variant of Nitsche, we prove an upper bound for the dual norm of the residual, for Tresca and Coulomb friction, without any extra regularity and without a saturation assumption. An improved Lewis acid catalyzed synthesis method for methyl tetramethoxy resorcinarene is described, which produced the missing lower rim methyl derivative of this partially O-alkylated resorcinarene family. Structural characterization by means of variable temperature NMR experiments and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies furthermore revealed that the resorcinarene core adopts different conformations in the solid state and in solution. peerReviewed
