Il proposito principale di questa ricerca è quello di presentare le riforme del VI sec. a.C. in una prospettiva allargata, che potremmo definire “mediterranea”. Eclogites and garnet pyroxenites: Similarities and differences

Eclogites and garnet pyroxenites are genetically linked to basaltic precursors. Traditionally garnet pyroxenites are linked to fractionation of basaltic Magmas Over a range of mantle pressures and more recently they have been implicated in the genesis of ocean islands. in contrast eclogites are linked to the subduction of slab basalt and gabbro precursors which may be hydrothermally altered. Recently this subduction paradigm has been questioned. We present mineralogical, trace element and O isotopic data for eclogites and garnet pyroxenites that reveal some similarities but also important chemical and isotopic differences that support a distinct provenance (i.e., age and process). SARS and human rights in a postmodern context : a case study of Toronto

This pro gradu-thesis studies the conflict between human rights and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The thesis focuses on the events that took place in Toronto between February and June 2003. The theoretical focus is placed within postmodern tradition and the main contributors for the theoretical approach in this work are Michel Foucault and Georgio Agamben. Especially the concept of biopolitics and politics of the state of exception are closely analysed. The key aspect of this thesis is in the temporality of human rights and the events that lead to revoking those rights. Kali dodecanesicum (Chenopodiaceae, Salsoloideae) a new species from Greece

Kali dodecanesicum, a new species from some islands (i.e. Rhodes, Kos and Nisyros) of the Dodecanese in the south-eastern Aegean (Greece), is described and illustrated. According to recent literature, Kali is treated as a distinct genus from the polyphyletic Salsola s.l., which includes several annual species. The new species is morphologically well separated from the other Kali taxa mainly for the shape of the fruiting perianth, showing closer relationships with Kali ponticum. Its ecological requirements, distribution, and conservation status are also examined, together with an analytic key of the Kali species occurring in the Mediterranean area.

Nomenclatural and taxonomical considerations on Kali , a controversial genus recently segregated from the polyphyletic Salsola s. lat. ( Chenopodiaceae ), are provided. The Kali group includes annual plants with leaves ending in a spine and lacking hypodermis, having also a cortex alternate to longitudinal chlorenchymatous striae. The species belonging to this genus mainly have a paleotemperate distribution (Europe, Asia and North Africa), occurring as aliens in North America, Australia and South Africa.
