A simple and rapid DNA extraction method from leaves of grapevine suitable for polymerase chain reaction analysis.
2012
The genomic grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) DNA extraction is difficult because of secondary metabolites that interfere with DNA isolation procedures and subsequent applications. We developed a simple, rapid and efficient method for the extraction of genomic DNA from asymptomatic and pathogen-infected grape leaves. The protocol reported, based on a modified cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) extraction procedure, allowed the rapid DNA extraction from little amounts of leaf material without employment of liquid nitrogen for initial tissue grinding. The protocol included polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to bind phenolic compounds, β-mercaptoethanol to inhibit the oxidation of polyphenols, and a h…
Candesartan Cilexetil In Vitro-In Vivo Correlation: Predictive Dissolution as a Development Tool
2020
[EN] The main objective of this investigation was to develop an in vitro-in vivo correlation (IVIVC) for immediate release candesartan cilexetil formulations by designing an in vitro dissolution test to be used as development tool. The IVIVC could be used to reduce failures in future bioequivalence studies. Data from two bioequivalence studies were scaled and combined to obtain the dataset for the IVIVC. Two-step and one-step approaches were used to develop the IVIVC. Experimental solubility and permeability data confirmed candesartan cilexetil. Biopharmaceutic Classification System (BCS) class II candesartan average plasma profiles were deconvoluted by the Loo-Riegelman method to obtain th…
[Cr(ddpd) 2 ] 3+ : A Molecular, Water‐Soluble, Highly NIR‐Emissive Ruby Analogue
2015
Bright, long-lived emission from first-row transition-metal complexes is very challenging to achieve. Herein, we present a new strategy relying on the rational tuning of energy levels. With the aid of the large N-Cr-N bite angle of the tridentate ligand ddpd (N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-dipyridine-2-ylpyridine-2,6-diamine) and its strong σ-donating capabilities, a very large ligand-field splitting could be introduced in the chromium(III) complex [Cr(ddpd)2](3+), that shifts the deactivating and photoreactive (4)T2 state well above the emitting (2)E state. Prevention of back-intersystem crossing from the (2)E to the (4)T2 state enables exceptionally high near-infrared phosphorescence quantum yields a…
ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of Areno-Condensed [24]Annulenes.
2010
[24]Annulenes condensed with three phenanthrene units (11a−d) or with three chrysene ring systems (22) were prepared by multi-step syntheses. The cyclic condensation reaction in the final step led to highly symmetrical compounds. Long flexible alkoxy groups attached to the periphery enhance the solubility and give rise to a strong aggregation of the molecules which was observed in solution by NMR and fluorescence excitation spectroscopy, and in the pure state by the detection of liquid crystalline phases in differential scanning calorimetry and polarization microscopy.
Production of spray-dried proanthocyanidin-rich cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) extract as a potential functional ingredient: Improvement of stabili…
2018
International audience; Cinnamon proanthocyanidins present important biological properties. However, these molecules are unstable and possess an astringent taste, which can make their ingestion difficult. In this context, entrapment by spray-drying technology may be used to produce a concentrated extract with improved stability and reduced astringency. Thus, this work aimed to prepare spray-dried microparticles loaded with a proanthocyanidin-rich cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) extract (PRCE), immobilized in a maltodextrin matrix. Freeze-dried samples of the extract (without the carrier) were also prepared for comparison. The particles were characterized for moisture content, water activit…
Cloud point–dispersive μ-solid phase extraction of hydrophobic organic compounds onto highly hydrophobic core–shell Fe 2 O 3 @C magnetic nanoparticles
2012
Abstract A novel two-step extraction technique combining cloud point extraction (CPE) with dispersive micro-solid phase extraction (D-μ-SPE) is presented in this work for the first time. The method involves initial extraction of the target analytes by CPE in the micelles of a non-ionic surfactant medium; then highly hydrophobic polysiloxane-coated core–shell Fe 2 O 3 @C magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are used to retrieve the micellar phase. In that manner, the micellar phase containing the analytes is the target of the D-μ-SPE step rather than the analytes directly. MNPs are then collected by the application of an adscititious magnetic field overcoming the need for specific steps associated …
Properties of treated papers and plastic film influencing ethyl ester transfer
2008
Abstract The objective of this work was to compare and understand the aroma compound barrier property of two impregnated–supercalendered papers, with or without surface coating, and one plastic film (BOPP) in standard conditions of temperature (25 °C) and relative humidity gradient (50%) for foodstuff storage. For that purpose, solubility, diffusivity and permeability coefficients were determined for a homologous series of ethyl esters with a range of physico-chemical properties and vapor concentrations. Whatever the aroma compound and its vapor concentration, the non-coated paper was the more permeable; the coated paper and BOPP presenting close and lower permeability values. The transfer …
Effect of environmental humidity and coating on aroma transfer through treated papers
2012
Abstract Coupled transfers of aroma compounds and water vapour were investigated by varying the relative humidity gradient of storage (50% or 90%) of two paper packaging at 25 °C. These papers differed in their coating surface: both were identically impregnated then supercalendered, and only one was twice coated on both sides with a synthetic barrier substance. Permeability and solubility coefficients were determined. The coating treatment was more effective to decrease the permeabilities of water vapour and ethyl ester than the effect of RH. On the contrary, the RH modified the water content of the treated papers and affected more strongly their permeability and solubility to cis-3-hexenol…
Water-soluble polyesters from long chain alkylesters of citric acid and poly(ethylene glycol)
2007
Abstract Long chain aliphatic alcohols have been used as model compounds to develop a preparative method for a water-soluble material, which could be a carrier for triacontanol, a highly hydrophobic plant growth regulator. New polyesters from long chain aliphatic (C = 12, 18 and 22) mono-1-alkyl citrates and poly(ethylene glycol) were synthesized and characterized by NMR spectroscopy. The polyester containing the triacontyl moiety was obtained from mono-1-triacontyl citrate, which was synthesized from the corresponding alcohol extracted from the Agave fourcroydes . The molecular weight M ¯ n of the polyesters depends on experimental conditions during synthesis such as reaction time, atmosph…
Solubility of Polymers
2011
Detailed knowledge concerning the phase state (homogeneous or coexistence of two or more condensed phases) of polymer containing mixtures is indispensible in virtually any area related to the production or application of macromolecules. In addition to this qualitative information it is for many purposes highly desirable to dispose of quantitative data regarding solvent quality or, more generally, with respect to the thermodynamic interaction between the components of the mixtures. This contribution starts with a brief presentation of the thermodynamic criteria deciding on the phase state and presents the experimental methods used in this area. The next section gives an overview on typical b…
