[EN] Wine colour is one of the main organoleptic characteristics influencing its quality. It is of special interest in red vinifications due to the economic resources that wineries have to invest for the extraction of the phenolic compounds responsible for wine colour, compounds that are mainly located inside the skin cell vacuoles, where the volatile compounds are also found. Automatic ranging and self-positioning is a very desirable property in wireless acoustic sensor networks, where nodes have at least one microphone and one loudspeaker. However, due to environmental noise, interference, and multipath effects, audio-based ranging is a challenging task. This paper presents a fast ranging and positioning strategy that makes use of the correlation properties of pseudonoise sequences for estimating simultaneously relative time-of-arrivals from multiple acoustic nodes. Sonographic evidence of intraperitoneal fluid. An experimental study and its clinical implications.

In order to evaluate the sensitivity of ultrasound to intraperitoneal fluid, such as ascites or blood, an experimental study was performed in the pig. Various amounts of fluid were injected into the peritoneal cavity to investigate distribution and diagnostic criteria in different positions. As little as 10 ml of fluid was visualized around the urinary bladder in an upright position. In the supine position, 20 ml could be detected around the bladder and 30 ml around the liver. The injection of at least 60 ml resulted in a pattern of free-floating bowel loops. The sonographic findings of fluid distribution were correlated to radiological studies. Reconstruction of hyperspectral cutaneous data from an artificial neural network-based multispectral imaging system.

International audience; The development of an integrated MultiSpectral Imaging (MSI) system yielding hyperspectral cubes by means of artificial neural networks is described. The MSI system is based on a CCD camera, a rotating wheel bearing a set of seven interference filters, a light source and a computer. The resulting device has been elaborated for in vivo imaging of skin lesions. It provides multispectral images and is coupled with a software reconstructing hyperspectral cubes from multispectral images. Task-specific ionic liquid for the depolymerisation of starch-based industrial waste into high reducing sugars

Development of a simple route for the catalytic conversion of starch-based industrial waste (potato peels) and potato starch into reducing sugars was investigated in two ionic liquids for comparison – 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [AMIM]Cl and 1-(4-sulfobutyl)-3-methylimidazolium chloride [SBMIM]Cl. International audience; The impact of continuous and pulsed ultrasound pre-treatments (15, 30 and 45 min) followed by conventional hydrodistillation on the characteristics of extracted essential oils (EOs) from dried leaves of Aloysia citriodora Palau was evaluated for the first time. Chemical composition of EOs, antibacterial and antioxidant activities, as well as the contents in heavy metals (iron, copper, lead, arsenic, and cadmium) were determined.
