“If you seek it, you will find it”. Methodology for the carpological study of the Middle Magdalenian of Cova de les Cendres site (Teulada-Moraira, Al…

2016

Digital Teaching Competence Evaluation of Pre-Service Teachers in Spain: A Review Study

2021

Digital teaching competence is one of the main teacher training needs today. However, teacher training curricula show a significant gap in this area. The objective of this study is to carry out a systematic review of scientific articles published between 2011 and 2020 that analyze the digital teaching competence of pre-service teachers who are mainly studying in Spanish universities. The reviewed studies show that there is great heterogeneity in the theoretical frameworks and instruments employed. Pre-service teachers point out that they have certain digital skills, but they lack pedagogical skills to digitally enrich the teaching-learning processes. These aspects present challenges in rese…

El European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) como criterio de calidad de las revistas académicas: análisis de la lista revisada de educación

2013

The European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) has been proposed (and officially recognized in our country) as a European alternative to the dominant indices that have a known Anglo-Saxon bias. The aim is to raise the visibility of European research in the Humanities and in various areas of the Social Sciences, in order to improve coverage of the cultural and linguistic diversity of our continent. We analyze some of the circumstances affecting the results of the recently updated list of ERIH (´revised´), with special emphasis on the field of education. The results demonstrate the need to improve the criteria for entry into the index (completeness and quality) if ERIH is to achieve i…

The Key Role of Human Resource Practices for the Promotion of Creativity and Innovation: A Spanish Case Study

2013

Management literature suggests that employee creativity can contribute substantially to organisational innovation, effectiveness and survival. In addition, the ability to innovate has also emerged as a basic strategic option. Innovation models express the need to implement specific human resource practices (HRP) for the development of skills, knowledge and innovation-oriented behaviours. Human resource practices can be extremely important when organisations intend to foster creativity and innovation which are key factors in competing effectively. With this aim in mind, we suggest that the existence of certain HRP such as training, performance appraisal and reward systems have a positive eff…

Integrating Circularity in the Sustainability Assessment of Asphalt Mixtures

2020

Rising concerns about the impacts that the road engineering industry is imposing to the environment have redirected national road authorities to firmly re-consider the sustainability implications of their operations. Lately, though, sustainability has established a forceful correlation with the Circular Economy and its principles. The road engineering industry, therefore, is moving towards more circular approaches. However, this is occurring without the assessment of the potential impacts of such a transition. For this reason, in this study, a composite indicator, namely, Environmental Sustainability and Circularity indicator (ESCi), for investigating the potential effects that increased ci…

Rodent Animal Research in UTx

2019

The rodents, mouse, and rat represent well-characterized animal sources for basic research in any field of biological sciences. The animals are cheap compared to other type of animals, easy to husbandry, and are extremely well characterized from genetic and physiology point of views, especially when it comes to immunological and reproductive aspects. Availability of gene-modified strains, easy embryo transfer, and the accessibility of specific recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies are further advantages. Hence, the first experiments done in the modern era of uterus transplantation used mouse and rat as the main animal models. In this chapter, we describe important key steps of the …

The cremation structures of the Roman Empire: anthracological data versus historical sources

2011

ISSN: : 0210-3729; International audience; During the excavation of the Roman necropolis site Richeaume (Bouches-du-Rhone, Provence, France), cremation primary structures have been identified. A specific protocol consisting in collecting the entire sediment for sampling charred funeral remains on a grid of 20 to 40 cm, was systematically experimented and put into practice. The first anthracological results offer a reading of both qualitative and quantitative spatial residues of the cremation (including the discovery of the ignition lock, and technical aspects revealing a specific choice adapted to the practice of cremation). This reading led to interpret anthracological results in a technic…
