Do island plant populations really have lower genetic variation than mainland populations? Effects of selection and distribution range on genetic div…
2015
Ecological and evolutionary studies largely assume that island populations display low levels of neutral genetic variation. However, this notion has only been formally tested in a few cases involving plant taxa, and the confounding effect of selection on genetic diversity (GD) estimates based on putatively neutral markers has typically been overlooked. Here, we generated nuclear microsatellite and plastid DNA sequence data in Periploca laevigata, a plant taxon with an island–mainland distribution area, to (i) investigate whether selection affects GD estimates of populations across contrasting habitats; and (ii) test the long-standing idea that island populations have lower GD than their mai…
STATISTICAL MODELS FOR LANDSLIDE SUSCEPTIBILITY ASSESSMENT: METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES AND GUIDELINES FOR MEDITERRANEAN CONTEXT
2012
The social regeneration of brownfields as an activator of peri-urban development. The Añana salt valley in Spain as good model of brownfield regenera…
2016
Productive and extractive districts in a state of neglect are in dire need of regeneration, especially brownfields that are in rur-urban sites and could disfigure the landscape. These elements should be considered as resources to define a new territorial value. The present paper shows an empirical example of brownfield re-cycle that produce social innovation in rur-urban sites, this case study is the Añana salt valley and it is situated in Spain. Brownfields, in fact, are catalysts of social, economic, cultural, and ecological revitalization. This aspect assigns to these elements a value of peri-urban resource for a sustainable and participatory multi-scale enhancement. The paper focus the …

2019
Sumptuous ceremonies were organized in Madrid in December 1744 to celebrate the marriage of the Infanta of Spain Maria Teresa, daughter of Philippe v and Isabella Farnese, with the Dauphin of France Louis, son of Louis xv and Maria Leszczyńska. Their union was of great political importance, as it reinforced the alliance between the two Bourbon kingdoms during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748). Refined musical works were specially composed to solemnize the event: Corselli’s "Achille in Sciro" and Astorga’s "Le deità superate" were offered by the court at the Buen Retiro palace; moreover, two different allegorical serenatas, one by Mele and the other by Leo, were commissioned by …
2015
The tanslation of Edmondo De Amicis works was undertaken in Spain by Hermenegildo Giner de los Ríos. This paper presents an analysis of the first edition of Cuore. Libro per I ragazzi (1886) and its first translation into Castillian, Corazón (Diario de un niño) (1887), in which we can see the frequent use of domesticating technique, with adaptations, omissions, amplifications and modulations. However, besides this, we can also perceive a strengthering of the text of by the translator, through a process that tries to readdress it to the new readers with a new literary efficiency.
