Diachronic variation in the Middle Paleolithic settlement of Abrigo de la Quebrada (Chelva, Spain)
2017
Abstract This paper compares levels IV and VIII of Abrigo de la Quebrada. The study includes knapping technique, raw material, fauna, and the spatial distribution of lithic and bone remains. Although both levels correspond to cumulative palimpsests, patterns of resource management and use of space that suggest changes in the rhythm of occupation and the functionality of the settlements can be discerned. A change in mobility patterns probably underpins the differences between these two levels of Quebrada, but assessing this hypothesis is made difficult by the lack of comparable documentation for other sites in the region.
Implicaciones del turismo masivo en un destino de cruceros
2020
[EN] One of the types of tourism that can generate greater problems of overtourism is cruise ship tourism, given the large number of people who disembark at a port of call to visit the destination. For this reason, the present study aims to analyze the perception of massification among cruise ship tourists visiting an important Mediterranean port of call and how it influences their satisfaction with their visit. To this end, using structural equation models and from a sample of cruise ship passengers, the model proposed in this study is tested. The results indicate that of the two typologies of massification analysed, it is spatial massification that contributes most to the perception of to…
Molecular Rearrangement of an Aza-Scorpiand Macrocycle Induced by pH: A Computational Study †
2016
Rearrangements and their control are a hot topic in supramolecular chemistry due to the possibilities that these phenomena open in the design of synthetic receptors and molecular machines. Macrocycle aza-scorpiands constitute an interesting system that can reorganize their spatial structure depending on pH variations or the presence of metal cations. In this study, the relative stabilities of these conformations were predicted computationally by semi-empirical and density functional theory approximations, and the reorganization from closed to open conformations was simulated by using the Monte Carlo multiple minimum method Financial support by the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitiv…
Heritage and the anti-city. Pizzo Sella in Palermo between modern ruins tourism and civic reappropriation
2022
Weed detection by aerial imagery : toward weed management by UAV
2016
The agricultural framework aims to reduce pesticide use on fields. Weed management, which is highly herbicide consuming, became a great issue. In order to develop a weed management service using UAV, this PhD dissertation studies how to adapt the acquisition system (UAV + multispectral camera) developed by AIRINOV to detect weeds in row crops. The acquisition chain was modeled to assess some of its parameters (optical filters and spatial resolution) impact on weed detection quality. Orthoimages and orthorectified images were created using a multispectral camera (4 to 8 filters) with 6 mm to 6 cm spatial resolutions. Several weed location methods were specifically developed to study multispe…

Temporal and spatial fluctuations in moisture affect humus microfungal community structure in microcosms
2000
The effects of temporal and spatial fluctuations in moisture on the microfungal community were studied in birch litter plus pine humus microcosms over 6 months. Two treatments were used: a uniform treatment in which moisture was maintained at the original moisture content throughout the profile over the course of the experiment; and a fluctuating moisture treatment in which the moisture content of the whole microcosm fluctuated weekly around the original moisture content. At 6 months, fungal species richness was higher and diversity was lower under moisture fluctuations than under uniform moisture. The number of fungal isolates and proportional diversity was significantly higher in the bott…
Three-Dimensional Classification of Lower Third Molars and Their Relationship to the Mandibular Canal.
2021
PURPOSE To develop a novel classification making full use of radiographic three-dimensional (3D) information to describe the position, geometric configuration of a mandibular third molar (M3M) and its spatial relation to neighboring structures such as the mandibular canal (MC). The classification presented in this study helps to establish a common language and serves as a framework for further studies, for example, on 3D parameters influencing prognosis of the M3M and level of difficulty associated with its removal. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 8 parameters were included in the classification including position, the cranio-caudal height, the number of roots of the M3M as well as its spat…
Emissions and spatial variability of N2O, N2 and nitrous oxide mole fraction at the field scale, revealed with 15N isotopic techniques.
2006
Abstract The accurate measurement of nitrous oxide (N 2 O) and dinitrogen (N 2 ) during the denitrification process in soils is a challenge which will help to estimate the contribution of soil N 2 O emissions to global warming. Oxygen concentration, nitrate concentration and carbon availability are generally the main factors that control soil denitrification rate and the amount of N 2 O or N 2 emitted. The aim of this paper is to present a database of the N 2 O mole fraction measured at the field scale, and to test hypotheses concerning its regulation. A 15 N-nitrate tracer solution was added to 36 undisturbed soil cores on a 20 m×20 m cultivated field plot. Fluxes of CO 2 , N 2 O and N 2 f…
High-Speed and Robust Monocular Tracking
2015
In this paper, we present a system for high-speed robust monocular tracking (HSRM-Tracking) of active markers. The proposed algorithm robustly and accurately tracks multiple markers at full framerate of current high-speed cameras. For this, we have developed a novel, nearly co-planar marker pattern that can be identified without initialization or incremental tracking. The pattern also encodes a unique ID to identify different markers. The individual markers are calibrated semi-automatically, thus no time-consuming and error-prone manual measurement is needed. Finally we show that the minimal spatial structure of the marker can be used to robustly avoid pose ambiguities even at large distanc…
