Varadhan estimates without probability: lower bound
2007
We translate in semi-group theory our proof of Varadhan estimates for subelliptic Laplacians which was using the theory of large deviations of Wentzel-Freidlin and the Malliavin Calculus of Bismut type.
Analysis of human skin hyper-spectral images by non-negative matrix factorization
2011
International audience; This article presents the use of Non-negative Matrix Factorization, a blind source separation algorithm, for the decomposition of human skin absorption spectra in its main pigments: melanin and hemoglobin. The evaluated spectra come from a Hyper-Spectral Image, which is the result of the processing of a Multi-Spectral Image by a neural network-based algorithm. The implemented source separation algorithm is based on a multiplicative coeffi cient upload. The goal is to represent a given spectrum as the weighted sum of two spectral components. The resulting weighted coefficients are used to quantify melanin and hemoglobin content in the given spectra. Results present a …
Representation and estimation of spectral reflectances using projection on PCA and wavelet bases
2008
In this article, we deal with the problem of spectral reflectance function representation and estimation in the context of multispectral imaging. Because the reconstruction of such functions is an inverse problem, slight variations in input data completely skew the expected results. Therefore, stabilizing the reconstruction process is necessary. To do this, we propose to use wavelets as basis functions, and we compare those with Fourier and PCA bases. We present the idea and compare these three methods, which belong to the class of linear models. The PCA method is training-set dependent and confirms its robustness when applied to reflectance estimation of the training sets. Fourier and wave…
Temperature dependence of recombination radiation in semiconductor nanostructures with quantum dots containing impurity complexes
2021
Temperature dependence of the spectral intensity of recombination radiation in a quasi-zero-dimensional structure, containing impurity complexes “A++e” (a hole localized on a neutral acceptor, interacting with an electron localized in the ground state of a quantum dot), has been investigated in an external electric field in the presence of tunneling decay of a quasistationary A+-state. Probability of dissipative tunneling of a hole has been calculated in the one-instanton approximation, and the influence of tunneling decay and of an external electric field on the A+-state binding energy and on the spectra of recombination radiation, associated with the optical transition of an electron from…
Reconstruction from boundary measurements for less regular conductivities
2012
In this paper, following Nachman's idea and Haberman and Tataru's idea, we reconstruct $C^1$ conductivity $\gamma$ or Lipchitz conductivity $\gamma$ with small enough value of $|\nabla log\gamma|$ in a Lipschitz domain $\Omega$ from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map $\Lambda_{\gamma}$. In the appendix the authors and R. M. Brown recover the gradient of a $C^1$-conductivity at the boundary of a Lipschitz domain from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map $\Lambda_{\gamma}$.
Stability estimates for the magnetic Schr\"odinger operator with partial measurements
2020
In this article, we study stability estimates when recovering magnetic fields and electric potentials in a simply connected open subset in $R^n$ with $n \geq 3$, from measurements on open subsets of its boundary. This inverse problem is associated with a magnetic Schr\"odinger operator. Our estimates are quantitative versions of the uniqueness results obtained by D. Dos Santos Ferreira, C. E. Kenig, J. Sj\"ostrand and G. Uhlmann in [13]. The moduli of continuity are of logarithmic type.
Carleman estimates for sub-Laplacians on Carnot groups
2022
In this note, we establish a new Carleman estimate with singular weights for the sub-Laplacian on a Carnot group $\mathbb G$ for functions satisfying the discrepancy assumption in (2.16) below. We use such an estimate to derive a sharp vanishing order estimate for solutions to stationary Schr\"odinger equations.
Boundary regularity for degenerate and singular parabolic equations
2013
We characterise regular boundary points of the parabolic $p$-Laplacian in terms of a family of barriers, both when $p>2$ and $1<p<2$. Due to the fact that $p\not=2$, it turns out that one can multiply the $p$-Laplace operator by a positive constant, without affecting the regularity of a boundary point. By constructing suitable families of barriers, we give some simple geometric conditions that ensure the regularity of boundary points.
Reilly's type inequality for the Laplacian associated to a density related with shrinkers for MCF
2015
Let $(\bar{M},,e^\psi)$ be a Riemannian manifold with a density, and let $M$ be a closed $n$-dimensional submanifold of $\bar{M}$ with the induced metric and density. We give an upper bound on the first eigenvalue $\lambda_1$ of the closed eigenvalue problem for $\Delta_\psi$ (the Laplacian on $M$ associated to the density) in terms of the average of the norm of the vector ${\vec{H}}_{{\psi}} + {\bar \nabla}$ with respect to the volume form induced by the density, where ${\vec{H}}_{{\psi}}$ is the mean curvature of $M$ associated to the density $e^\psi$. When $\bar{M}=\Bbb R^{n+k}$ or $\bar{M}=S^{n+k-1}$, the equality between $\lambda_1$ and its bound implies that $e^\psi$ is a Gaussian den…
The X-Ray Transform for Connections in Negative Curvature
2016
We consider integral geometry inverse problems for unitary connections and skew-Hermitian Higgs fields on manifolds with negative sectional curvature. The results apply to manifolds in any dimension, with or without boundary, and also in the presence of trapped geodesics. In the boundary case, we show injectivity of the attenuated ray transform on tensor fields with values in a Hermitian bundle (i.e. vector valued case). We also show that a connection and Higgs field on a Hermitian bundle are determined up to gauge by the knowledge of the parallel transport between boundary points along all possible geodesics. The main tools are an energy identity, the Pestov identity with a unitary connect…
