Improved centrifugal and hyperfine analysis of ND2H and NH2D and its application to the spectral line survey of L1544

2021

Abstract Quantifying molecular abundances of astrochemical species is a key step towards the understanding of the chemistry occurring in the interstellar medium. This process requires a profound knowledge of the molecular energy levels, including their structure resulting from weak interactions between nuclear spins and the molecular rotation. With the aim of increasing the quality of spectral line catalogs for the singly- and doubly-deuterated ammonia (NH2D and ND2H), we have revised their rotational spectra by observing many hyperfine-resolved lines and more accurate high-frequency transitions. The measurements have been performed in the submillimeter-wave region (265–1565 GHz) using a fr…

Cluster isobars for high-precision mass spectrometry

1991

Doublet mass measurements of the isobars28Si3 and12C7 are performed by use of a Penning trap mass spectrometer and the Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR). The carbon and silicon cluster ions are produced by laser ablation. Results of these preliminary measurements are presented.

New Results from the NUMEN Project

2018

International audience; NUMEN aims at accessing experimentally driven information on Nuclear Matrix Elements (NME) involved in the half-life of the neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ), by high-accuracy measurements of the cross sections of Heavy Ion (HI) induced Double Charge Exchange (DCE) reactions. First evidence about the possibility to get quantitative information about NME from experiments is found for the (^18O,^18Ne) and (^20Ne,^20O) reactions. Moreover, to infer the neutrino average masses from the possible measurement of the half-life of 0νββ decay, the knowledge of the NME is a crucial aspect. The key tools for this project are the high resolution Superconducting Cyclotron beam…

Configurable Passband Imaging Spectrometer Based on Acousto-optic Tunable Filter

2008

This work presents a new configurable imaging spectrometer called Autonomous Tunable Filtering System (ATFS). The system can be configured to acquire a single narrow spectral band, a composite multispectral image, or a broad pass-band. This flexibility is given by the use of an Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter (AOTF) driven by a programmable radio frequency (rf) signal generator. The AOTF acts as a light-diffraction element which output wavelength is selected by the frequency of an rf signal applied to it. The designed rf driver is based on a high-speed Digital-to-Analog converter, which can synthesize any composite rf waveform formed by a combination of sine signals. The images are formed thro…

The Cryogenic AntiCoincidence detector for ATHENA: the progress towards the final pixel design

2014

“The Hot and Energetic Universe” is the scientific theme approved by the ESA SPC for a Large mission to be flown in the next ESA slot (2028th) timeframe. ATHENA is a space mission proposal tailored on this scientific theme. It will be the first X-ray mission able to perform the so-called “Integral field spectroscopy”, by coupling a high-resolution spectrometer, the X-ray Integral Field Unit (X-IFU), to a high performance optics so providing detailed images of its field of view (5’ in diameter) with an angular resolution of 5” and fine energy-spectra (2.5eV@E<7keV). The X-IFU is a kilo-pixel array based on TES (Transition Edge Sensor) microcalorimeters providing high resolution spectroscopy …

Model, software and database for line-mixing effects in the nu3 and nu4 bands of CH4 and tests using laboratory and planetary measurements - II : H2 …

2006

International audience; The absorption shapes of the nu(2), nu(3) and nu(4) infrared bands of CH4 perturbed by H-2 in large ranges of pressure and temperature have been measured in the laboratory. In order to model these spectra, the theoretical approach accounting for line-mixing effects proposed for CH4-N-2 and CH4-air and successfully tested in the companion paper (1), is used. As before, state-to-state rotational rates are used together with some empirical parameters that are deduced from a fit of a single room temperature spectrum of the nu(3) band at about 50 atm. The comparisons between measured and calculated spectra in the nu(3) and nu(4) regions under a vast variety of conditions …

Rapid and Nondestructive Determination of Egg Freshness Category and Marked Date of Lay using Spectral Fingerprint

2020

The potential of nondestructive prediction of egg freshness based on near-infrared (NIR) spectra fingerprints would be beneficial to quality control officers and consumers alike. In this study, handheld NIR spectrometer in the range of 740 nm to 1070 nm and chemometrics were used to simultaneously determine egg freshness based on marked date of lay for eggs stored under cold and ambient conditions. The spectra acquired from the eggs were preprocessed using multiplicative scatter correction and principal component analysis (MSC-PCA). Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) was used to build identification model to predict the category of freshness, while partial least square regression (PLS-R) wa…

Accurate spectroscopic constants of nitrogen determined from stimulated Raman spectra of the fundamental and first hot bands

1990

Nitrogen spectra of the Q-branch of the fundamental and the first hot bands were recorde with a high-resolution stimulated Raman spectrometer at atmospheric pressure and ca. 1300 K. The absolute frequencies of the Raman lines were measured with high accuracy, leading to a refinement of spectroscopic constants. A temperature estimation was also performed from the Raman intensities.

Non-destructive and clean prediction of aviation fuel characteristics through Fourier transform-Raman spectroscopy and multivariate calibration

2003

Abstract The combination of Fourier transform (FT)-Raman spectroscopy and partial least squares (PLS) regression is proposed to be used in off-line kerosene quality control. Here, six important physico-chemical properties have been studied: Abel flash point, initial boiling point (IBP), 10% of distilled sample, final boiling point (FBP), total percentage of aromatic compounds (% aromatics) and viscosity. The Raman spectra were obtained directly from standard 2 ml glass vials ( 12 mm ×32  mm), using a Bruker RFS 100 FT-Raman spectrometer, equipped with a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser and a Ge detector, in back-scattering mode and accumulating 25 scans (150 s acquisition time) with a laser power of 30…
