Incorporating in vivo and ex vivo NMR sources of information for modeling robust brain tumor classifiers

2010

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the potential and limitations of using multimodal sources of information coming from in vivo NMR and ex vivo NMR data for detecting brain tumors. Supervised pattern recognition methods, whose performance directly depends on the prior available observations used in building them, are proposed. We show that high resolution magic angle spinning (HR-MAS) data act as complementary information for classifying magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) data. In particularly, when considering rare brain tumors, since it is unlikely to acquire sufficient cases to define their metabolite profiles using only in vivo NMR information, HR-MAS can support t…

All-Optical Fiber Hanbury Brown & Twiss Interferometer to study 1300 nm single photon emission of a metamorphic InAs Quantum Dot

2016

[EN] New optical fiber based spectroscopic tools open the possibility to develop more robust and efficient characterization experiments. Spectral filtering and light reflection have been used to produce compact and versatile fiber based optical cavities and sensors. Moreover, these technologies would be also suitable to study N-photon correlations, where high collection efficiency and frequency tunability is desirable. We demonstrated single photon emission of a single quantum dot emitting at 1300 nm, using a Fiber Bragg Grating for wavelength filtering and InGaAs Avalanche Photodiodes operated in Geiger mode for single photon detection. As we do not observe any significant fine structure s…

Synthesis, spectroscopic, and X-ray structural study of aqua-bis(thymine-N 1 ,N 4 )-ethylenediamine copper(II)dihydrate [Cu(Thy) 2 (en)(H 2 O)].2H 2 O

2016

International audience; A new compound of thyminato anions and ethylenediamine with five-coordinate Cu(II) is synthesized. Elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV-visible) were used to characterize this compound and its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure consists of the neutral mononuclear complex [Cu(Thy)(2)(en)(H2O)]center dot 2H(2)O. The environment around Cu(II) ion exhibits a square pyramidal geometry with two nitrogen atoms of ethylenediamine and two other nitrogen atoms of the monodentate monoanions of thymine building the equatorial plane. The oxygen atom from H2O molecule occupies the apical position. The comp…

Synthesis and characterization of a Cu(II) complex of 2-benzylmercapto-5- methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (C10H10N2S 2)

2008

A Cu(II) complex of 2-benzylmercapto-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole was synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of the copper complex and the free ligand were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at room temperature: {[Cu(C10H10N2S2) 2(Cl)2], P1 triclinic, a = 8.1450(2) Å, b = 8.1690(2) Å, c = 10.8180(3) Å, α = 97.4040(12)°, β = 101.6270(11)°, γ = 116.1431(14)°; C10H10N2S2 ligand, Pbca orthorhombic, a = 8.7938(7) Å, b = 9.6491(7) Å, c = 25.3552(18) Å}. The metal complex framework consists of discrete units that provide crystalline stability through a network of van der Waals contacts. The Cu(II) is coordinated by two chloride ions and two 2-benzylmercapto-5-methyl-1,3,4- …

Fast nosological imaging using canonical correlation analysis of brain data obtained by two-dimensional turbo spectroscopic imaging.

2007

A new fast and accurate tissue typing technique has recently been successfully applied to prostate MR spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) data. This technique is based on canonical correlation analysis (CCA), a statistical method able to simultaneously exploit the spectral and spatial information characterizing the MRSI data. Here, the performance of CCA is further investigated by using brain data obtained by two-dimensional turbo spectroscopic imaging (2DTSI) from patients affected by glioblastoma. The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of CCA when typing tissues of heterogeneous tumors. The performance of CCA is also compared with that of ordinary correlation analysis on s…

Etude théorique de spectres de molécules toupies sphériques à l'aide du formalisme d'ensembles tensoriels irréductibles

2022

Vibrational-rotational spectroscopy of molecules of the spherical top type, in particular, SiH4 and GeH4 molecules, as well as their isotopologues, is of interest in various fields of science and technology, especially in astrophysics and planetology. One of the most important discoveries in the study of the atmospheres of giant planets is the discovery of german and silane gases in the atmospheres of Saturn, Titan, and Jupiter. Despite many years of research on the vibrational-rotational spectra of molecules of german, silane, and their deuterated modifications, many spectral ranges are still unexplored. However, a complete study of the atmospheres of giant planets is possible only in the …

BODIPY dyes functionalized with 2-(2-dimethylaminophenyl)ethanol moieties as selective OFF–ON fluorescent chemodosimeters for the nerve agent mimics …

2014

[EN] Two OFF-ON fluorescent chemodosimeters based on a BODIPY core for the detection of nerve agent mimics have been synthesized. Their reactivity towards diethylcyanophosphonate (DCNP) and diisopropylfluorophosphate (DFP) has been tested in organic and aqueous phase. These chemodosimeters selectively detect the nerve agent mimics with good LODs. The chemodosimeters hold their sensing properties on solid supports, allowing the preparation of a hand held sensing kit. The sensing in solid-liquid phase has been demonstrated. The X-ray structure of compound 2 has been resolved.

Interaction of metal ions with N-glycosylamines: isolation and characterization of the products of 4,6-O-benzylidene-N-(o-carboxyphenyl)-β-D-glucopyr…

2001

Metal-ion complexes of Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Hg2+ with 4,6–O–benzylidene–N–(o–carboxyphenyl)–β–D–glucopyranosylamine were synthesized and isolated as solid products and characterized by analytical means as well as by spectral techniques, such as, 1H and 13C NMR, FTIR, absorption, FAB mass spectrometry, optical rotation and CD. While the alkali metal ions formed ML type of complexes, the other metal ions formed ML2 type complexes. Molecular weights of the complexes of Li+, Na+ and K+ were established based on the molecular-ion peaks in the FAB mass spectra. The saccharide portion remians in the β-anomeric form even after the complexation. The spectral data, as well as t…

Supramolecular functionalization and concomitant enhancement in properties of Au25 clusters

2014

We present a versatile approach for tuning the surface functionality of an atomically precise 25 atom gold cluster using specific host-guest interactions between ?-cyclodextrin (CD) and the ligand anchored on the cluster. The supramolecular interaction between the Au25 cluster protected by 4-(t-butyl)benzyl mercaptan, labeled Au25SBB18, and CD yielding Au25SBB18?CDn (n = 1, 2, 3, and 4) has been probed experimentally using various spectroscopic techniques and was further analyzed by density functional theory calculations and molecular modeling. The viability of our method in modifying the properties of differently functionalized Au25 clusters is demonstrated. Besides modifying their optoe…
