Structure elucidation of the adducts formed by fjord region Dibenzo[a,l]pyrene-11,12-dihydrodiol 13,14-epoxides with deoxyguanosine.
1999
Model adducts to be used in the identification of biologically formed adducts were synthesized by reaction of fjord-region dibenzo[a,l]pyrene 11,12-dihydrodiol 13,14-epoxides (DB[a,l]PDE) and deoxyadenosine (dA). The (+/-)-anti-DB[a,l]PDE was reacted with dA in dimethylformamide at 100 degrees C for 30 min to give four DB[a, l]PDE-14-N(6)dA adducts: (-)-anti-trans (26%), (+)-anti-trans (26%), (-)-anti-cis (17%), and (+)-anti-cis (17%). The (+/-)-syn-DB[a,l]PDE was reacted with dA under the same conditions to yield four DB[a, l]PDE-14-N(6)dA adducts and one N7Ade adduct: (+)-syn-cis (19%), (+)-syn-trans (13%), (-)-syn-cis (19%), (-)-syn-trans (13%), and (+/-)-syn-DB[a,l]PDE-14-N7Ade (22%). Remarkable Steric Effects and Influence of Monodentate Axial Ligands L on the Spin-Crossover Properties of trans-[FeII(N4 ligand)L] Complexes
2007
Iron(II) complexes obtained from tetradentate, rigid, linear N4 ligands have been investigated to appraise the influence of steric effects and the impact of trans-coordinated anions on the spin-transition behavior. As expected, the well-designed ligands embrace the metal center, resulting in octahedral iron(II) complexes where the basal plane is fully occupied by the pyridine/pyrazole N4 ligand, while anions or solvent molecules are exclusively axially coordinated. Precursor complexes, namely, [Fe(bpzbpy)(MeOH)2](BF4)2 (where bpzbpy symbolizes the ligand 6,6'-bis(N-pyrazolylmethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine) and [Fe(mbpzbpy)(MeOH)2](BF4)2 (where mbpzbpy symbolizes the ligand 6,6'-bis(3,5-dimethyl-N-p…
Activation of the Cyano Group at Imidazole via Copper Stimulated Alcoholysis
2019
Reactions of 4,5-dicyano-1-methylimidazole with CuX2 (X = Cl, Br) in alcohol solvents (ethanol and methanol) resulted in the formation of Cu(II) carboximidate complexes [CuCl2(5- cyano-4-C(OEt)N-1-methylimidazole)(EtOH)] (1), [Cu2(µ
Ethylene oligomerization with 2-hydroxymethyl-5,6,7-trihydroquinolinyl-8-ylideneamine-Ni(II) chlorides
2021
Abstract A series of Ni complexes of the general formula [2-(MeOH)-8-{N(Ar)}C9H8N]NiCl2, where Ar = 2,6-Me2C6H3 in Ni1; 2,6-Et2C6H3 in Ni2; 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3 in Ni3; 2,4,6-Me3C6H2 in Ni4; 2,6-Et2-4-MeC6H2 in Ni5 and 2,4,6-t-Bu3C6H2 in Ni6 has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. On activation with MMAO or Et2AlCl, these complexes showed high activity in ethylene oligomerization, reaching 2.23 × 106 g·mol–1 (Ni) h–1 at 30 °C with the Al/Ni ratio of 5500 and 9.11 × 105 g·mol–1 (Ni) h–1 with the Al/Ni of 800, respectively. Moreover, the content of α-C4 indicated high selectivity exceeding 99% in the Ni/Et2AlCl system. Comparing with the previous report by o…
Synthesis and NMR characterization of seven new substituted pyridine N-oxides
2008
Abstract Seven 3-substituted (alkylamino, alkylnitramino and alkylnitrosoamino) derivatives of pyridine N-oxide have been prepared and their 1H, 13C and 15N NMR chemical shifts assigned based on PFG 1H, 13C HMQC and PFG 1H, X (X = 13C or 15N) HMBC experiments. In the sterically most crowded congener, 3-ethylnitramino-4-nitropyridine N-oxide, chemical non-equivalence or diastereotopicity of the N–CH2 protons was observed probably due to the chirality of the adjacent amino nitrogen caused by its restricted inversion. The coalescence temperature for the 1H NMR chemical shifts of these geminal protons has been determined and the corresponding ΔG∗ for the energy barrier of the dynamic process ha…
Crystal and molecular structure of 1,2-dihydro-1-methyl-2-nitriminopyridine: X-ray and infrared studies
1999
Abstract The crystal and molecular structure of 1,2 dihydro-1-methyl-2-nitriminopyridine ( 1 ) at 90.0(1) K have been determined. It crystallises in an orthorhombic Pna2 1 space group with a =7.753(2), b =13.829(3) and c =6.070(1) A, Z =4, R ( F )=0.0259 for 1856 unique reflections. The pyridine ring is planar, the N(1) nitrogen atom remains sp 2 hybridised. The NNO 2 group is twisted 26° along C–N bond and 15° along N–N bond. The twist is caused by a steric hindrance and/or weak C–H⋯O hydrogen bonds. IR spectra of ( 1 ), N -(2-pyridyl)-nitramine ( 4 ) and N -methyl- N -(2-pyridyl)-nitramine ( 9 ) were recorded in solution and in the solid state. The frequencies characteristic of the nitrim…
Spectroscopic and conformational properties of size-fractions separated from a lignite humic acid
2007
Abstract A lignite humic acid (HA) was fractionated by preparative high performance size-exclusion chromatography (HPSEC) in seven different size-fractions. The size-fractions were characterized by cross polarization (CP) magic angle spinning (MAS) 13 C NMR spectroscopy and a further analytical HPSEC elution under UV and fluorescence detection. The alkyl hydrophobic components mainly distributed in the largest molecular-size-fraction, whereas the amount of oxidized carbons increased with decreasing size of fractions. Cross polarization time ( T CH ) and proton spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame ( T 1 ρ (H)) were measured from variable contact time (VCT) experiments. The bulk…
Compensation of steric demand by cation–π interactions, cobaltocenium cations as guests in tetraurea calix[4]arene dimers
2003
The affinities of ferrocene (2) and the cobaltocenium cation (3+), which have roughly the same size and differ in their charge, towards the inner cavity of the dimeric capsule formed by tetraurea calix[4]arene (1) were studied in C2D4Cl2 solutions. While 3+, which occupies more than 75% of the internal volume of the dimer, is readily encapsulated this is not the case for 2. This is probably due to cation-pi interactions, which operate only between 3+ and the aromatic rings of the calix[4]arene dimer. We found that the affinity of the cobaltocenium cation is higher than that of the tropylium cation (4+) and is only 2-3 times less than that of the tetraethylammoniun cation (5+). From the vari…
Kinetico-mechanistic studies of the acidolysis of Rh-C bonds in monocyclometallated dirhodium(II) acetato complexes; influence of electronic and ster…
2011
The protonation/demetallation reaction, in CD(3)COOD, of phosphine monometallated triacetato-bridged dirhodium(ii) complexes of general formulae [Rh(2)(μ-OOCCH(3))(3){(RC(5)CH(3))P(RC(6)H(4))(2)}(2)] has been studied from a kinetico-mechanistic perspective. The process has been monitored via the disappearance of the nuclear magnetic resonance signals of the protons present in the non-metallated ortho positions of the phosphine ligand and taking advantage of the relatively fast back metallation process that follows the acidolysis reaction, the sequence behaving as an overall equilibrium reaction. The process has a high associative character with important entropy demands, increasing both for…
Dual-stimuli pseudorotaxane switches under kinetic control
2021
A series of dumbbell-shaped sec-ammonium salts with bulky (pseudo)stoppers (‘speed bumps’) were tested for their ability to form pseudorotaxanes with a redox-switchable, tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)-decorated [24]crown-8 ether. Depending on the size of the pseudostoppers, fast (less than ten minutes), slow (hours to days) and very slow (no pseudorotaxanes observed) threading has been observed. NMR spectroscopy as well as tandem mass spectrometry indicate the formation of non-threaded face-to-face complexes prior to pseudorotaxanes formation. Both isomers can be distinguished by their substantially different stability in collision-induced dissociation (CID) experiments. Two external stimuli affe…
