Transition probabilities for some infrared O I spectral lines—Application for determining excitation temperatures in low temperature plasmas

Intensities of selected spectral transitions of neutral oxygen emitted from a wall-stabilized arc have been measured. Applying reliable transition probability data taken from literature, Boltzmann plots have been constructed and the temperatures of the plasma have been obtained. At arc plasma conditions ensuring partial local thermal equilibrium, transition probabilities for 4 O I spectral lines from the near infrared spectral range have been obtained. Optical fluorescence spectra of 9,9′-bianthryl (BA) in polyisobutene (PIB) were measured as a function of the excitation wavelength at various temperatures between 210 and 293 K. Irradiation at the red edge of the absorption spectra selectively excites distinct conformers with respect to the torsional angle. This leads to a strong dependence of the vibronic band shape of the fluorescence spectra on the excitation wavelength. The marked temperature dependence of the band shape may be attributed to the viscosity-dependent deceleration of the torsional relaxation of BA in the highly viscous polymer which prevents the excited state ensemble from reaching thermal equilibrium. Land surface temperature retrieval from LANDSAT TM 5

In this paper, three methods to retrieve the land surface temperature (LST) from thermal infrared data supplied by band 6 of the Thematic Mapper (TM) sensor onboard the Landsat 5 satellite are compared. The first of them lies on the estimation of the land surface temperature from the radiative transfer equation using in situ radiosounding data. The others two are the mono-window algorithm developed by Qin et al. [International Journal of Remote Sensing 22 (2001) 3719] and the single-channel algorithm developed by Jime´nez-Mun˜oz and Sobrino [Journal of Geophysical Research 108 (2003)]. Phonon properties and photo-thermal oxidation of micromechanically exfoliated antimonene nanosheets

Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) sheets of antimonene have attracted increasing attention due to their unique physical and chemical properties prompting potential for diverse applications. We present a facile method to prepare high-quality antimonene nanosheets (ANSs) by micromechanical exfoliation on SiO2/Si substrate. The temperature- and laser power-dependent Raman studies of exfoliated ANSs are reported and analyzed. It was found that both the out-of-plane A1g and the in-plane Eg modes red-shift linearly with increase in temperature, pointing towards anharmonic vibrations of the lattice. Oxide growth and tunneling characteristics of Sn-SnO x -Sn junctions

Sn—SnOx—Sn tunneling junctions were prepared by thermal oxidation of vacuum deposited Sn-films. The thickness growth of the oxide was followed by ellipsometric measurements. From logarithmic conductivity measurements the barrier heights were determined. The tunneling characteristic could be well described by the two-band-tunneling model using a value of 0.14 for the ratio of the effective masses in the oxide and the metal.

Abstract Single crystals of the thermochromic distibane (Me 3 Sn) 4 Sb 2 ( 1 ) are obtained by irradiation of (Me 3 Sn) 3 Sb with sunlight. The crystal structure of 1 is reported as linear chains of distibane molecules in trans conformation with Sb ⋯ Sb contacts of 389 ppm. Diffuse reflexion spectra of 1 in the solid state and in solution demonstrate thermochromic effect. The Raman spectrum of solid 1 exhibits strong absorption at 162 cm −1 for ν(Sb 2 ).

Thermochromic Fluorescence from B18H20(NC5H5)2: An Inorganic–Organic Composite Luminescent Compound with an Unusual Molecular Geometry

BH(NCH) is a rare example of two conjoined boron hydride subclusters of nido and arachno geometrical character. At room temperature, solutions of BH(NCH) emit a 690 nm fluorescence. In the solid state, this emission is shifted to 620 nm and intensifies due to restriction of the rotation of the pyridine ligands. In addition, there is a thermochromicity to the fluorescence of BH(NCH). Cooling to 8 K engenders a further shift in the emission wavelength to 585 nm and a twofold increase in intensity. Immobilization in a polystyrene thin-film matrix results in an efficient absorption of pumping excitation energy at 414 nm and a 609 nm photostable fluorescence. The Two‐Step Spin Conversion in a Supramolecular Triple Helicate Dinuclear Iron(II) Complex Studied by Mössbauer Spectroscopy

The triple helicate dinuclear iron(II) complex, [Fe-2(L)(3)](ClO4)(4)center dot 2H(2)O (1), previously reported by Tuna et al. (Chem. Eur. J. 2004, 10, 5737), was prepared and characterised by detailed SQUID and Fe-57 Mbssbauer measurements. Compound 1 exhibits a thermochromic two-step spin conversion at T-SC((1)) ca. 240 K and T-SC((2)) ca. 120 K, but does not switch its spin state further below 20 K as proven by Mossbauer spectroscopy. The sharp variation of the susceptibility below 20 K is due to zero-field splitting of the remaining iron(II) high-spin species. A new approach to analysis of relationships between 137Cs activity concentrations in forest soil horizons

The measurements results of 137Cs activity concentrations in forest soil profiles are discussed. In studies some simplifications were considered. First of them concerns disregarding of soil subtype in data analysis. However initially this parameter was considered in data analysis, it was finally ignored. The second assumption drops information about specific soil horizon. Description of 137Cs accumulation is based on relationships between its relative activity concentrations in soil layers.
