To examine quality of life and subjective well-being as predictors of symptomatic treatment outcome.Biweekly PANSS ratings were performed in 285 inpatients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders within a multicenter trial by the German Research Network on Schizophrenia. Quality of life and subjective well-being were assessed using the Medical Outcomes Study-Short Form 36-Item Health Survey (SF-36), the Subjective Well-being Under Neuroleptic Treatment Scale (SWN-K) and the Adjective Mood Scale (AMS). Abstract Caring for offspring with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with chronic stress. Such a situation could alter body homeostasis, and in turn, physiological systems associated with the stress response and health, such as the autonomic nervous system. Phase relationships between distinct frequency bands of the sleep electroencephalogram (EEG) were studied in healthy subjects using cross-correlation coefficients, both over the entire night and separately for nonrapid eye movement (NREM) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Over the entire night, a large positive correlation developed within high- and low-frequency bands, while a negative correlation emerged between low- and high-frequency bands, reflecting their reciprocal temporal course. Summary Objective To determine the spectral transmission curve of the crystalline lens of the pig. To analyse how this curve changes when the crystalline lens is irradiated with ultraviolet A + B radiation similar to that of the sun. To compare these results with literature data from the human crystalline lens. Procedures We used crystalline lenses of the common pig from a slaughterhouse, i.e. genetically similar pigs, fed with the same diet, and slaughtered at six months old.
