Light-component spectrum of the primary cosmic rays in the multi-TeV region measured by the ARGO-YBJ experiment
2012
The ARGO-YBJ experiment detects extensive air showers in a wide energy range by means of a full-coverage detector which is in stable data taking in its full configuration since November 2007 at the YBJ International Cosmic Ray Observatory (4300 m a.s.l., Tibet, People's Republic of China). In this paper the measurement of the light-component spectrum of primary cosmic rays in the energy region $(5\textdiv{}200)\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ is reported. The method exploited to analyze the experimental data is based on a Bayesian procedure. The measured intensities of the light component are consistent with the recent CREAM results and higher than that obtained adding the proton and helium sp…
Investigation of alanine with gadolinium for ESR dosimetry at TRIGA Mark II reactor of Mainz
2015
In this work we have studied the response of alanine pellets with and without gadolinium exposed to the thermal column of the TRIGA Mark II research reactor at the University of Mainz
Search for ultrarelativistic magnetic monopoles with the Pierre Auger Observatory
2016
We present a search for ultra-relativistic magnetic monopoles with the Pierre Auger Observatory. Such particles, possibly a relic of phase transitions in the early universe, would deposit a large amount of energy along their path through the atmosphere, comparable to that of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs). The air shower profile of a magnetic monopole can be effectively distinguished by the fluorescence detector from that of standard UHECRs. No candidate was found in the data collected between 2004 and 2012, with an expected background of less than 0.1 event from UHECRs. The corresponding 90% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits on the flux of ultra-relativistic magnetic monopoles ra…
Microwave harmonic emission in MgB2 superconductor: Comparison with YBA2CU3O7
2006
We report results of microwave second-harmonic generation in ceramic samples of MgB2, prepared by different methods. The SH signal has been investigated as a function of the temperature and the static magnetic field. The results are discussed in the framework of models reported in the literature. We show that the peculiarities of the SH signal are related to the specific properties of the sample. A comparison with the results obtained in ceramic and crystalline YBa2Cu3O7 shows that the second-harmonic emission in MgB2 is weaker than that observed in ceramic YBa2CuO7. Controlled solution-based fabrication of perovskite thin films directly on conductive substrate
2021
Abstract Organometallic perovskites are one of the most investigated materials for high-efficiency thin-film devices to convert solar energy and supply energy. In particular, methylammonium lead iodide has been used to realize thin-film perovskite solar cells, achieving an efficiency higher than 20%. Different fabrication procedures based on the spin-coating technique have been proposed, which do not ensure homogenous morphologies. In this work, we present a scalable process to fabricate methylammonium lead iodide thin films directly on conductive substrates, consisting of electrodeposition and two subsequent chemical conversions. A thorough investigation of the morphological, structural an…
Multiphoton process investigation in silica by UV femtosecond laser
2022
We investigated the interaction processes between high intensity femtosecond ultraviolet laser pulses and amorphous silica, leading to permanent refractive-index changes that are at the basis of advanced manufacturing for photonics devices. The experiment, carried out as a function of the laser power, improves our understanding on the strong-field ionization process by the monitoring of the 1.9 eV and 2.65 eV emissions, related to nonbridging oxygen hole centers and self-trapped exciton, respectively, induced in the exposed glass region. Our results clearly proved that the UV laser light band-to-band absorption is allowed in the multiphoton ionization limit, whose consecutive relaxation lea…

Il Laboratorio di Psicologia Sperimentale a Palermo da Simone Corleo a Umberto Saffiotti
2016
2017
Pietro Pomponazzi is an author who never gained prominence in the history of philosophical thought. He lived between the late 15th and early 16th centuries, and is one of the most significant figures in the Italian philosophy of the Renaissance. His main work De immortalitate animae, published in 1516, witnesses the “rebirth” of human sciences in the wake of the Aristotelian tradition established at the University of Padua. Thanks also to his work, while Florence was the seat of Platonism, Padua was the seat of Aristotelianism, confirming the rediscovery of a classical culture that was the foundation of modern culture. In the case of Pomponazzi, it should be emphasized that the return to Ar…
