Toppdommerrollen i fotball : sammenhengen mellom angst og mental tøffhet og toppdommeres subjektive opplevelse av press i norsk fotball

2016

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap - Universitetet i Agder 2016 Mental toughness, anxiety and pressure are well-used terms within sports, even though it can be difficult to understand the meaning of them. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between anxiety (cognitive- and somatic anxiety and self-confidence) and mental toughness, and top-class referees’ subjective experience on pressure as a soccer official. 183 top-class referees answered an online questionnaire. Mental toughness was measured by using the SMTQ and anxiety by using the CSAI-2. Of all the referees included in this study, 97.2% had been active footballers themselves, 44.3% had played on a high level. There…

Always pay attention to which model of motor learning you are using

2022

This critical review considers the epistemological and historical background of the theoretical construct of motor learning for a more differentiated understanding. More than simply reflecting critically on the models that are used to solve problems—whether they are applied in therapy, physical education, or training practice—this review seeks to respond constructively to the recent discussion caused by the replication crisis in life sciences. To this end, an in-depth review of contemporary motor learning approaches is provided, with a pragmatism-oriented clarification of the researcher’s intentions on fundamentals (what?), subjects (for whom?), time intervals (when?), and purpose (for what…

Predicting stiffness and strength of birch pulp:Polylactic acid composites

2016

This paper studies failure of birch pulp–polylactic acid composites. Stiffness and strength are calculated using the theory of short fibre composites and the results are compared to experimental data. The results differed from the experimental values by 0–6%. With less aligned fibres the short fibre theory is not feasible. The performance of the 40 wt% birch pulp – polylactic acid composite is predicted with X-ray microtomography based finite element modelling, and the results are compared with experiments. Stiffness results differed from experiments by 1–17% . By adding into the models a third material phase representing the interface between the fibres and the matrix, the stress–strain c…

Effects of Minimalist Footwear and Foot Strike Patterns on Plantar Pressure during a Prolonged Running

2022

The use of minimalist shoes (MS) in running involves changes in running mechanics compared to conventional shoes (CS), but there is still little research analysing the effects of this footwear on plantar pressure, which could help to understand some risk injury factors. Moreover, there are no studies examining the effects of a prolonged running and foot strike patterns on baropodometric variables in MS. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyse the changes produced using MS on plantar pressure during a prolonged running, as well as its interaction with the time and foot strike pattern. Twenty-one experienced minimalist runners (age 38 ± 10 years, MS running experience 2 ± 1 years) ran…

Modélisation de la mobilité : la génération de trafic à l'échelle régionale

2006

Public transport management is currently going through important changes, passing from one scale to another: decentralizing from the national level and extending at the local level. The range of transport management powers of the French administrative regions have widened, thus creating new management problems. Within the context of these new questions, our research proposes management solutions which take into account both the continual evolution of daily mobility and the new scales of transport management. More specifically, we considered a specific stage often neglected in geographical approaches to the suject. This stage called traffic generation consists in modelling the process of cho…

Actual and Perceived Motor Competence, Cardiorespiratory Fitness, Physical Activity, and Weight Status in Schoolchildren : Latent Profile and Transit…

2022

Engagement in physical activity plays a central role in the prevention and treatment of childhood overweight/obesity. However, some children may lack the skills and confidence to be physically active. This 3-year follow-up study aimed to form profiles based on cardiorespiratory fitness, actual motor competence, perceived motor competence, physical activity, and weight status, and to examine if these profiles remain stable from late childhood to early adolescence. All these variables were annually assessed in 1,162 Finnish schoolchildren (girls = 583 and boys = 564, Mage = 11.27 ± 0.32 years). Latent profile analysis was used to identify profiles and latent transition analysis to examine the…

Behavior regulations and motives to participate in physical activity of Finnish team sports athletes

2014

The study examined the motivation to participate and behavior regulation in team sports among Finnish athletes. It explored differences across gender and among various team sport types. One hundred and seventy five girls and 142 boys (aged 12 to 24 years old) participated in the study. Motives to participate were measured on the Physical Activity and Leisure Motivation Scale (PALMS, Morris & Rogers, 2004), while behavior regulations were measured on the Behavior Regulation in Sport Questionnaire (BRSQ, Lonsdale, Hodge & Rose, 2008). Others' expectation was excluded from calculations due to low reliability. Participants scored higher on mastery, enjoyment and physical condition in PALMS scal…

Students' Physical Activity, Physical Education Enjoyment, and Motivational Determinants through a Three-Year School-Initiated Program

2023

Patterns of physical activity in adulthood are often established during adolescence, making this an important period for promoting physical activity. To address this, the Sotkamo Physical Activity as Civil Skill Program 2010–2014 was implemented to increase Grade 5 to 9 students’ physical activity on a daily basis. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of program on students’ physical activity and enjoyment. Furthermore, the relationship between motivational climate and enjoyment, and the percentages of students who engaged in 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity on the daily basis were examined.
