Synthesis and crystal structure of an unprecedented bismuth porphyrin containing ester pendant arms

2000

International audience; An easily prepared porphyrin with pendant arms is shown to form a stable complex with bismuth(III) ion; the complex is eight coordinate with a square antiprismatic coordination geometry; the solid-state structure exhibits the formation of a dimer assembled via mutual coordination of a terminal ester group.

Intramolecular ferro- and antiferromagnetic interactions in oxo-carboxylate bridged digadolinium(iii) complexes

2010

Two new digadolinium(III) complexes with monocarboxylate ligands, [Gd2(pac)6(H2O)4] (1) and [Gd2(tpac)6(H2O)4] (2) (Hpac = pentanoic acid and Htpac = 3-thiopheneacetic acid), have been prepared and their structures determined by X-ray diffraction on single crystals. Their structures consist of neutral and isolated digadolinium(III) units, containing six monocarboxylate ligands and four coordinated water molecules, the bridging skeleton being built by a muO(1):kappa2O(1)O(2) framework. This structural pattern has already been observed in the parent acetate-containing compound [Gd2(ac)6(H2O)4] x 4 H2O (3) whose structure and magnetic properties were reported elsewhere (L. Cañadillas-Delgado, …

Dinuclear and two- and three-dimensional gadolinium(III) complexes with mono- and dicarboxylate ligands: synthesis, structure and magnetic properties

2009

Three new gadolinium(III) complexes with carboxylate ligands of formula [Gd2(ac)6(H2O)4]·2H2O (1), [Gd2(ac)2(fum)2(H2O)4]n (2) and [Gd2(ox)(fum)2(H2O)4]n·4nH2O (3) (ac = acetate, fum = fumarate and ox = oxalate) have been prepared and their structures determined by X-ray diffraction on single crystals. The structure of 1 is made up of discrete centrosymmetric di-µ-oxo(carboxylate acetate)digadolinium(III) units with an intramolecular Gd⋯Gd separation of 4.1589(3) A. Each gadolinium atom in 1 is nine-coordinated with two water molecules and seven carboxylate-oxygen atoms from four acetate ligands building a monocapped square antiprism environment. Compound 2 exhibits a sheet-like structure, …

Ca[Ag2(SCN)4]·2H2O

2004

Calcium tetrathiocyanatodiargentate(I) dihydrate, Ca[Ag(2)(SCN)(4)].2H(2)O, contains eight-membered Ag(4)S(4) rings bonded together through shared atoms to form layers parallel to (100). The thiocyanate groups link the layers to Ca-O chains running parallel to the c axis. The Ca atom is located on a twofold rotation axis parallel to b and is surrounded by four water molecules of crystallization and four thiocyanate N atoms in a distorted square antiprism.

Synthesis and Structural Study of Tetravalent (Zr 4+ , Hf 4+ , Ce 4+ , Th 4+ , U 4+ ) Metal Complexes with Cyclic Hydroxamic Acids

2015

Six- and seven-membered cyclic hydroxamic acids, such as 1-hydroxypiperidine-2-one (1H, 1,2-PIPOH) and 1-hydroxyazepan-2-one (2H), have recently been identified in some mixed siderophores as one of their three chelating subunits. Compared to their ubiquitous noncyclic counterparts, cyclic hydroxamates are preorganized for metal binding. Surprisingly, the coordination chemistry of these bidentate, monoanionic ligands remains virtually unknown, even in the case of iron(III). We report herein the first structural study of the complexes of 1– and of 6–, an unsaturated seven-membered ring analog of 2–, with tetravalent cations of transition metals (zirconium and hafnium), lanthanide (cerium), an…

Structural study of NaNdGa4S8, a luminescent material with low-concentration quenching

1988

Abstract Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and optical investigations of NaNdGa 4 S 8 show that Nd 3+ ions are essentially distributed in two of the three square antiprismatic sites of a CaGa 2 S 4 -type lattice. The NdS 8 polyhedra are isolated (minimum NdNd distance: 6.07 A) so the interactions responsible for concentration quenching of the luminescence are considerably reduced
