GENERATION OF ENTANGLED STATES OF TWO DISTANT CAVITY MODES VIA JOSEPHSON JUNCTION BASED DEVICES

2007

We present a simple scheme for the preparation of entangled states of the e.m. modes of two spatially separated microwave cavities exploiting their interaction with two superconducting SQUID rings embedded within them. The scheme requires that the two SQUID qubits are initially prepared in an entangled state and the possibility of controlling both the coupling strengths and the interaction times. We also briefly discuss the importance of such a theoretical scheme in view of possible applications in the context of quantum computing and its experimental feasibility.

The Two‐Step Spin Conversion in a Supramolecular Triple Helicate Dinuclear Iron(II) Complex Studied by Mössbauer Spectroscopy

2006

The triple helicate dinuclear iron(II) complex, [Fe-2(L)(3)](ClO4)(4)center dot 2H(2)O (1), previously reported by Tuna et al. (Chem. Eur. J. 2004, 10, 5737), was prepared and characterised by detailed SQUID and Fe-57 Mbssbauer measurements. Compound 1 exhibits a thermochromic two-step spin conversion at T-SC((1)) ca. 240 K and T-SC((2)) ca. 120 K, but does not switch its spin state further below 20 K as proven by Mossbauer spectroscopy. The sharp variation of the susceptibility below 20 K is due to zero-field splitting of the remaining iron(II) high-spin species. Applied field Fe-57 Mossbauer spectroscopy experiments at 4.2 K indicate that the gradual thermal spin conversion from [HS-HS] p…

Squid (Sepia officinalis) stored in active packaging: chemical and microbiological changes

2005

The effect of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) with and without a moisture adsorbent, on the quality of squid (Sepia officinalis) during chilled storage, was evaluated. Chemical and microbiological tests were carried out to measure the amount of spoilage and the resulting loss of fish freshness during 12 days of storage at 3°C. After 11 days, trimethylamine nitrogen (TMA-N) increased from 0.4 mg/100 g in fresh samples to 24 mg/100 g in MAP with adsorbent and 35 mg/100 g in the other samples. Total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) increased from 18 mg/100 g in fresh samples to 112 mg/100 g in MAP with adsorbent and 158 mg/100 g in control samples. Characterizing a dc-SQUID and a Mo/TiW/Cu -trilayer transition-edge sensor array

2017

Korkean taaj…

Quantum superpositions of clockwise and counterclockwise supercurrent states in the dynamics of a rf-SQUID exposed to a quantized electromagnetic fie…

2002

The dynamical behavior of a superconducting quantum interference device (a rf-SQUID) irradiated by a single mode quantized electromagnetic field is theoretically investigated. Treating the SQUID as a flux qubit, we analyze the dynamics of the combined system within the low lying energy Hilbert subspace both in the asymmetric and in the symmetric SQUID potential configurations. We show that the temporal evolution of the system is dominated by an oscillatory behavior characterized by more than one, generally speaking, incommensurable Rabi frequencies whose expressions are explicitly given. We find that the external parameters may fixed in such a way to realize a control on the dynamical repla…

Operation of transition-edge sensors with excess thermal noise

2006

The superconducting transition-edge sensor (TES) is currently one of the most attractive choices for ultra-high resolution calorimetry in the keV x-ray band, and is being considered for future ESA and NASA missions. We have performed a study on the noise characteristics of Au/Ti bilayer TESs, at operating temperatures around ~100 mK, with the SQUID readout at 1.5 K. Experimental results indicate that without modifications the back-action noise from the SQUID chip degrades the noise characteristics significantly. We present a simple and effective solution to the problem: by installing an extra shunt resistor which absorbs the excess radiation from the SQUID input, we have reduced the excess …

Reversible stress softening of collagen based networks from the jumbo squid mantle (Dosidicus gigas).

2014

Dosidicus gigas is the largest and one of the most abundant jumbo squids in the eastern Pacific Ocean. In this paper we have studied the muscle of the mantle of D. gigas (DGM). Morphological, thermal and rheological properties were assessed by means of atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry and oscillatory rheometry. This study allowed us to assess the morphological and rheological properties of a collagen based network occurring in nature. The results showed that the DGM network displays a nonlinear effect called reversible stress softening (RSS) that has been previously described for …

Dynamic spin-triplet order induced by alternating electric fields in superconductor-ferromagnet-superconductor Josephson junctions

2021

Dynamic states offer extended possibilities to control the properties of quantum matter. Recent efforts are focused on studying the ordered states which appear exclusively under the time-dependent drives. Here we demonstrate a class of systems which feature dynamic spin-triplet superconducting order stimulated by the alternating electric field. The effect is based on the interplay of ferromagnetism, interfacial spin-orbital coupling (SOC) and the condensate motion driven by the field, which converts hidden static p-wave order, produced by the joint action of the ferromagnetism and the SOC, into dynamical s-wave equal-spin triplet correlations. We demonstrate that the critical current of Jos…

Structural and Magnetic Properties of Nickel Oxide Nanopowders

2010

Structure and magnetic properties of nickel oxide (NiO) nanopowders have been studied by X-ray/neutron diffraction, SQUID magnetometer, and micro-Raman spectroscopy. Our diffraction data indicate that at room temperature all NiO powders are antiferromagnetically ordered and have a rhombohedral (R-3m) phase. The SQUID magnetometry and Raman spectroscopy measurements support the presence of the antiferromagnetic ordering.

Biological Aspects of Squids (loligo sp.) Caught by Fishermen in Manokwari Waters

2019

Squid (Loligo sp.) is one of the fisheries commodities caught in Manokwari waters. The aim of this study was to determine the biological aspects of Loligo sp. including the sex ratio, size distribution, growth pattern, and the lengthy relationship of Loligo sp. from Manokwari waters. This research was conducted in January until March 2017, in three landing sites of squid (Loligo sp) namely Fanindi Pantai, Borobudur and Arowi village. The method used is observation technique in the laboratory includes measurements of length and weight to find out the size distribution and growth pattern of captured Loligo sp. and surgery to determine the sex ratio. The male-female sex ratio of Loligo sp. was…
