Stability analysis with H∞ performance of production networks with autonomous work systems and time-varying delays

2011

Author's version of a chapter in the book: Proceeding of the 30th Chinese Control Conference. Also available from the publisher at: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=6001452&tag=1 This paper considers the problem of stability analysis with an H ∞ performance for a class of production networks of autonomous work systems with delays in the capacity changes. The system under consideration shares information between work systems and the work systems adjust capacity with the objective of maintaining a desired amount of local work in progress. An appropriate Lyapunov function is utilized to establish some delay-range-dependent conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalitie…

Adaptive Tracking Control of Nonlinear Time-Varying Systems with Unknown Control Coefficients and Unknown Time-Varying Parameters

2019

This paper investigates the tracking control of a class of strict-feedback uncertain nonlinear systems in the presence of unknown signs of control coefficients and unknown time-varying parameters as well as unknown disturbances. A robust adaptive controller and a new decoupled backstepping approach to stability analysis are developed by constructing a new compensation scheme. By introducing a Nussbaum function and a new type of hyperbolic tangent function, the effects of unknown time-varying parameters and unknown control coefficients are effectively compensated. By using the decoupled backstepping technique, it is proved that under the proposed control, all closed-loop states are uniform u…

Evaluating the effect of mineralogy and mechanical stability of recycled excavation materials by Los Angeles and micro-Deval test

2021

This paper presents the findings of the mechanical performance of recycled excavation materials (REM). The aim was to document the stable performance of REM and to suggest its suitability for unbound applications. Test operations were performed at different schedules with the Los Angeles (LA) and micro-Deval (MD) test machine. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was performed to examine the effect of mineralogy on the performance of REM. The results showed that REM showed consistent LA performance, but significant variations were observed in MD values. XRD results showed that up to 20% of chlorite and mica minerals had no influence on the LA performance of REM.

Soft variable structure controller design for singular systems

2015

Abstract A novel soft variable structure control (SVSC) scheme is addressed for a class of singular systems under I-controllable in this paper. The structural features of SVSC with differential equations are investigated. The stability of singular systems based on SVSC scheme is guaranteed by an equivalent characterization theory, and then a soft variable structure controller is designed. The concrete algorithm of SVSC with differential equations is proposed. The developed SVSC law for singular systems is carried out for the purpose of achieving rapid regulative rate, and shortening arrival time. Moreover, system chattering can be attenuated in the process of approaching to the equilibrium …

The dynamic interactive pattern of assimilation and contrast: Accounting for standard extremity in comparative evaluations

2021

Abstract Social judgments are often influenced by comparison to some standard in the environment, either moving the judgment closer (assimilating) to or away (contrasting) from this standard. Which direction this effect will take depends heavily on the relative standing of these standards on the judgment dimension compared to the target of the judgment. In previous research, items and comparison standards were often selected arbitrarily, ignoring or simplifying their influence substantially. The current work takes a fine-grained holistic curve fitting approach to measure response patterns across a wide range of standard extremities, showing that a narrower approach can pose limits to the ge…

Synthesis of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) and encapsulation of cisplatin for targeted cancer therapies

2014

The aim of this PhD thesis is to elaborate mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) able to sustain the release of cisplatin into the intracellular compartments of solid tumors. The parametric study shows that morphological, structural and textural properties of MSNs-MCM-41, synthesized by sol-gel reaction by using TEOS as a silica source and CTAB as a structure-directing agent, depend on pH, stirring speed, temperature and extraction process of CTAB. The synthesis atmosphere has to be controlled in order to avoid the presence of ethanol and carbonate species which are responsible of necks between particles generating unstable suspensions of MSNs.MSNs were functionalized in order to control t…

Dryland vegetation pattern dynamics driven by inertial effects and secondary seed dispersal

2022

This manuscript tackles the study of vegetation pattern dynamics driven by inertial effects and secondary seed dispersal. To achieve this goal, an hyperbolic extension of the classical parabolic Klausmeier model of vegetation, generally used to predict the formation of banded vegetation along the slopes of semiarid environments, has been here considered together with an additional advective term mimicking the downslope motion of seeds. Linear stability analyses have been carried out to inspect the dependence of the wave instability locus on the model parameters, with particular emphasis on the role played by inertial time and seed advection speed. Moreover, periodic travelling wave solution…

Innovative Vehicle-Trailer Connection for Yaw Stability Improvement

2014

As well known, dangerous conditions may occur for the lateral stability of the road vehicles on increasing the running velocity. While it is easy to make up for this drawback in the case of a vehicle alone, by a proper weight distribution, the unstable trend may worsen unfavourably for the vehicle-trailer configuration, imposing a very hard correction task to the driver, who has to cope with the development of two types of instability, exponentially divergent or swaying with increasing amplitude. The critical velocity depends on the geometrical and inertial characteristics of the car-trailer system, on the cornering stiffness of the tires and on the weight distribution among the axles. The …

QSPR/QSAR Studies of 2-Furylethylenes Using Bond-Level Quadratic Indices and Comparison with Other Computational Approaches

2017

The recently introduced, non-stochastic and stochastic quadratic indices (Marrero-Ponce <em>et al. J. Comp. Aided Mol. Des.</em> 2006, 20, 685-701) were applied to QSAR/QSPR studies of heteroatomic molecules. These novel bond-based molecular descriptors (MDs) were used for the prediction of the partition coefficient (log P), and the antibacterial activity of 34 derivatives of 2-furylethylenes. Two statistically significant QSPR models using non-stochastic and stochastic bond-based quadratic indices were obtained (R2 = 0.971, s = 0.137 and R2 = 0.986, s = 0.096). These models showed good stability to data variation in leave-one-out (L…
